JJ, Makarska if you can handle the claustrophobia is kind of buzzing, but Split is a great place for nights out, and between it and Sibenik are cool.

makarska is small and although it does go bump at night during the summer...it doesn't nowhere near as happening as Split or Dubrovnik, or Istria and zagreb for that matter. Unless you like watching drunk tourists lining up on the harbor ten at a time as if there were actually urinals there but there aren't and the cops just drive by and don't care. Very classy. I like Makarska but not for the nightlife. I was lucky enough to spend my birthday during the earthquake in Makarska last year. 5.5 magnitude. It was alot of fun!...sarcasm...at least the buildings are built out of that super thick stone....that was crazy

Split definately has the most lively night scene. Mostly bars, but a few clubs as well. Try the island of Pag, a few djs from Zagreb set up shop there in the summer .
Dunbrovnik is ok, the bar outside the wall by the sea is good, and I found a good jazz club there once. It's not really a party party town though.

Hi my name is Peter. My cousin david and I are coming to Croatia this year for the 3rd consecutive year, but this year we plan to make it to the coast for the first time. We will not be able to make it to the coast until we are done performing at the Pozega Festival. Therefore, we are also looking for the perfect city on the coast with the most nightlife, but one that is still happening the first week of September. Any suggestions? Or would you still reccommend Split or Pag?
