Of interest only to Brits (sorry). I got 9.98 kuna to the pound from HSBC a couple of days ago. Is the magical 10:1 coming back?

Are you sure HSBC didn't make a mistake as I haven't seen any currency charts that show it higher than 9.85 in the last 6 months.....

(or a bit of all three?) In any case, is 10 to 1 so great any more? Croatia is such an expensive country - for the quality of services rendered - I'd have thought 12 to 1 would be a more equitable exchange rate today. kesterj

Dunno Prkbrk, unlike HSBC to make a mistake in my favour.
Kes... The pound has strengthened marginally against the euro and the kuna has drifted from about 7.2 to 7.6 against the euro. Who knows what the future holds?

Most services here are 15-20% higher than the uk and I think also germany. In many cases there is no priceing structure, it's a bit try it and see. A bit like Italy show no interest in selling your product so you can charge more when clients and protenual buyers are pulling out their hair! Our freezer packed in yesterday, rang the service department but nobody works saturdays/sundays can I ring monday?(when all the frozen food is defrosted.)

We still hop across to Slovenia to shop there as prices in Zagreb have not fallen much since joining the EU. But what can we really expect with pretty much one company owning just about anything of value in the country.

It seems that the Kuna drops as the Euro falls against the Pound, Dollar and other currencies. Similar to the Pound, the dollar is strongest it has been against the Euro and Kuna in over 2 years. $1 = 6.1-6.2 Kuna.

today xe.com shows the rate over 10 - 1 but i dont expect to find that rate in croatia, I bought the highest I could find at a booth in Plodine (zaprude) at 9.85 - 1 ...last week it was 9.79 - 1, so its definitely climbing, I can see it going over 11 - 1 ...but here's hoping1

I've noticed the same in Hungary with the GBP to Forint exchange rate. I was getting just over 300 in mid 2011 but it is in the 370s now.

From the BBC today... 3/1/2015
The value of the euro has fallen to its lowest level since the middle of 2010, following comments from Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB). In a newspaper interview, he hinted again that the bank might soon start a policy of quantitative easing to try to stimulate the eurozone economies. The aim would be to stop the continued fall in the general level of prices. The euro fell 0.4% to $1.2034 after Mr Draghi's comments were made public.
Yesterday, I got 10.077 kuna from HSBC. My pal got 10.065 from PBZ. Happeee dayz.

Some people are forecasting parity between Euro and Dollar which would mean the Euro/pound back to €1.50! Keep your money in dollars.
