I have already posted on the Travel Section, but thought i might try here too....
I have a place on Brac and know Dalmatian Coast and Islands well but I have never been to Zagreb! In May I will be escorting a tour group, we start in Zagreb and stay at the Sheraton. We will have an official guide to take us on a walking tour in the morning and will be able to furnish us with historical/architectural facts . BUT 'insider' knowledge is invaluable and often much more entertaining.
Is anyone able to suggest little gems and things of interest not to be missed to do nearby, little anecdotes to be told, any juicy facts or gossip? I am agog! Also if there are any good nearby restaurants who would be prepared to do a deal for a large group (I think, between 20-30 pax)
I can maybe, reciprocate with info on recommended sailing ports of call, all Dalmatian Islands (we have been sailing the area for over 15 years) or maybe a night's accommodation in Supetar for two, in the summer!

Yes, January, it would be. In fact, maybe just an afternoon. Although we are staying 3 nights we are traveling out to Slovenia on our second day and then away to the coast

Ok thanks. Any interesting other snippets I can offer on coach. Delicious typical foods or wines not to be missed? Famous people living in Zagreb? Unusual stories? Or shall I make them up .... that could be fun!

You might want to take a look at the very interesting site www.secret-zagreb.com/. The lady behind the site also offers 'alternative' tours - although I know you've mentioned you've already got a tour organised.

Still on the search of the unusual, I have found 'the museum of broken relationships'. Looks brilliant, just the sort of thing I had in mind, has anyone been there?

Hi Jill, I spent a weekend in Zagreb with a group of uk friends. The Museum of Broken Relationships was great, as was the Museum of Naïve Art. We had a local guide, Jelena from Private Guide Zagreb, who was fantastic. Hope you have a good trip :0)

That's fab, just the sort of things I'm looking for, thank you 'donkeys'. Coming for recce early March when the restaurant week is supposed to be on... But I have a feeling that that might not be all it's cracked up to be! Looking forward to the visit very much.
