Hi All
I bought a place in Zagreb 2 years ago, and am still waiting for the RETT bill. Does anybody know where it gets sent to? I was presuming to the property you bought, as opposed to your home address abroad?
Wondering if I should just go to the tax office and try get it sorted while I'm over here.
Any advice appreciated!

Go to the local tax office appropriate to the address of the property you bought and do it ASAP. The chances are that the notar (Biljeznik) failed to notify them or the tax office could not contact you. Either way, you may find a tax bill plus back interest payments await you. Yes I agree with Ribaric. You need to be pro-active in this or you could easily find yourself with fines, court actions etc. Things here work differently and unless you make the effort to sort it out it will cost you more.

So, just to update for anyone else in future - although I was told by a few other people that bought that you received the bill at the Croatian address, I didn't, and mine went to an old address in the UK (I'd moved since buying here). So after going to the tax office in Zagreb, I managed to get the amount, which turned out to be 10% of the price I paid. However, I filed a complaint against that, included copies of adverts from Njuskalo for other places I looked at around the same time to show the prices, included pictures and receipts of all the renovation work I had to do etc, and after another 6 months of waiting finally got a new bill for 5%. So all good in the end!
