Hello all. My paternal grandparents were born in Croatia in a village in the knin region, and I was looking into pursuing citizenship through article 11 as I visit yearly anyway and me and my dad were looking into buying property. I contacted the British-Croatian embassy and was told any documents sent must say "Hrvat" on. My grandparents birth certificates clearly say SR of Hrvatska and I also have immigration documents from Zagreb, but there is no "ethnicity" part to the documents, however my grandparents were orthodox serb by religion, not catholic, and this seems like a religion weeding out question to me. Does this mean it's effectively not possible for me to claim citizenship through article 11 as my grandparents are orthodox not catholic? All my paternal ancestors were born in Croatia, with records dating back to the 1300's.
Thanks in advance.

Do you know who I can contact in terms of getting new copies of my grandparents documents? I've been calling the Croatian embassy here in London for 3 days now and cannot get through to anyone.

The best I can do is point you in the direction of a trustworthy lawyer.
