I'm interested in buying a currently unused piece of land which is classified as T6 (I think) in the town's development plan. Will it still be classified as agricultural land at the moment? And if so, does that mean as a UK citizen I can't buy it?
Thanks Marie

By the strictest interpretation of the current arrangements, non Croatians may not buy any land which is outside of the building zone as shown in the local urbanisički plan. The designation of the land has no bearing on this. You may buy any land designated as livada, vinograd, dvoriste, vocnjak etc... as long as it is fully within the local building zone. You may own such land but only if came to you as part of an inheritance. We know of cases where this regulation has been overlooked but that's another story. Under the timetable for EU accession which ends in July 2020, EU citizens will be able buy any land that a Croatian can buy. Goodness knows how Brexit will affect that. I hope this helps. www.ruralpropertycroatia.com
