Buying/registering a Croatian car if you're not living here?

Hi All

I searched but didn't find anything specific to this question:

I usually drive over in my UK car when I come, but that's pretty expensive and time-consuming, so, I'm toying with the idea of buying some little runaround to have out here so I can just fly over instead. I come fairly regularly so it won't be sitting for too long between trips, and I have a driveway to leave it in.

Is it possible to buy and register a car if you're not a Croatian citizen? I have an OIB as I bought a place in Zagreb.

If you have an OIB and an address then l see no reason why you cannot legally own a car here. However you will run into problems if you fail to renew the car's annual registration on time.

You certainly do not need to be a citizen but I think you need to be a resident and holder of a temporary residency card. I have been through the process of registering a car which was previously on Hungarian plates.
