Last week someone brought me over a copy of a British newspaper nothing special you ask, well it just reiterated why we are here. As much as Croatia has lots of bureaucracy, paper trails, laws that don't make sense, a language that is difficult to learn and many other faults it still remains a truly fantastic place to live. So Enjoy at least were not in the UK and depressed.
In last weeks UK paper I read about,
1. 15 % rise in gas bills and heating expenses.. 2. So many court cases involving stabbings, killings and viscous murders it turned my stomach.. 3.The princess Dianna trial which is still going on 10 years after. We all know what happened and have our own theories and the truth will never be known yet it is costing the British tax payer millions of pounds. 4.Children being mugged for an Ipod or phone 5.The competition for viewing figures for news at 10 on the TV, did you know Trevor mc donaught is back. Do we give a sh.. 6. An old lady that was mugged for less than 10 pounds. I think its a standard page 7 article, different lady, different town, same story 7. Racial and religious tension all across the UK. 8. Escalating immigration problems causing a lot of tension and unease 9.Immigrants being given driving lessons free and free mobile phones, as well as the accommodation.Hands up all those that were given a free phone by the Croatian Govenrment or driving lessons when they got here. 10.In Ireland now they have Polish policemen. There was also report of a Polish Dr who works in Poland Mon - Thur and then travels to Aberdeen to work as a locum. Why ?, 200 pounds an hour. Can you blame him. 11.There are over 100,000 Polish kids in the schools. most do not speak English and therefore are having special lessons at tax payers expense, and slowing down the education of the other kids. How many foreign kids get free education here mmmm let me think. 12.A political correctness system that has gone way over the top. The song ba ba black sheep is now banned !!! now ba ba rainbow sheep .I mean c'mon 13. Flooding again. ha ha ha, sorry couldnt resist 14. The fall in house prices with more doom and gloom predicted. 15. Northern rock being rescued again.
The list is endless and I think by now you have got the point.
What the paper failed to report was all the muggings that take place all over the UK everyday , all the horrendous car crashes ,the daily burglaries, car theft, car jacking, drug abuse and hundreds of other "minor crimes" why because they are not even news worthy anymore in the UK they are the NORM.
So the next time you get stressed or p`d off with living here just remember its better than back in the UK. The girls are pretty, the wine is cheap and fantastic, the food is in most parts organically grown and healthy. My wife dosent get mugged when she goes to the corner shop, and I dont have to have a fight on a saturday night after a beer . And best of all the SUN actually comes out

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Croatian problems are much bigger and more desperate then in the UK, apart from the weather of course. Due to the global warming, England's future is bright!

1. 15 % rise in gas bills and heating expenses..
This is because of a massive rise in the global wholesale price, it is hardly just a uk issue. The companies involved are mostly German and French.
2. So many court cases involving stabbings, killings and viscous murders it turned my stomach..
Murder is still very rare in England, you will find the uk very low on world murder rates, I dare to say even lower than Croatia, but that's a guess, we're hardly South Africa, Colombia or even USA. The last stats I saw we were the second lowest in Europe behind Cyprus, but those stats were old.
3.The princess Dianna trial which is still going on 10 years after. We all know what happened and have our own theories and the truth will never be known yet it is costing the British tax payer millions of pounds.
Nobody actually knows what happened, well not plebs like us anyway. Money? I assure you Diana's memory makes this country more money than it costs us, as cynical as that may seem.
4.Children being mugged for an Ipod or phone
This is happening in inner cities and it's a hideous crime, but it's certainly not exclusive to the Uk.
5.The competition for viewing figures for news at 10 on the TV, did you know Trevor mc donaught is back. Do we give a sh..
Nope, we don't so why mention it? 6. An old lady that was mugged for less than 10 pounds. I think its a standard page 7 article
different lady, different town, same story
It happens, it's horrible, but it happens all over the world just as much 7. Racial and religious tension all across the UK.
Utter nonsense, we're one of the most racially tolerant countries in the world 8. Escalating immigration problems causing a lot of tension and unease
Where? In the council flats of daily mail readers?
9.Immigrants being given driving lessons free and free mobile phones, as well as the accommodation.Hands up all those that were given a free phone by the Croatian Government or driving lessons when they got here.
Well those who have can share.
10.In Ireland now they have Polish policemen. There was also report of a Polish Dr who works in Poland Mon - Thur and then travels to Aberdeen to work as a locum. Why ?, 200 pounds an hour. Can you blame him.
So what? We sent staff to Germany in the 70's and 80's when our economy wasn't strong 11.There are over 100,000 Polish kids in the schools. most do not speak English and therefore are having special lessons at tax payers expense, and slowing down the education of the other kids. How many foreign kids get free education here mmmm let me think.
Free education is an absolute basic human right in a civilised country, for the most part the Polish wave has been hugely beneficial to this country. 12.A political correctness system that has gone way over the top. The song ba ba black sheep is now banned !!! now ba ba rainbow sheep .I mean c'mon
No it hasn't, this is the same as the rubbish that xmas is supposed to be banned every year as it upsets immigrants 13. Flooding again. ha ha ha, sorry couldnt resist
Flooding is not a disaster if people are stupid enough to build in flood planes, then they're fighting a battle against nature, one we can and should never win. 14. The fall in house prices with more doom and gloom predicted.
Is this for real? There's been a very small drop in some areas, the prices have risen and risen, my property is now worth twice what I paid for it 7 years ago. 15. Northern rock being rescued again.
So what? They're going to nationalise it I believe, they're safe guarding jobs, something a true sot like Gordon Brown was always likely to do, this happened because of the us crisis.
You strike me as a right wing reactionary headline reading daily mail/express addict.
I can understand why you find Croatia more your cup of tea.

Villa you forgot to say
Croatia is no where near as over crowded as U.K.
Leading to Croatia being no where near as polluted as the U.K.
Croatia has some of the best fresh water resources in europe. Something that's increasingly more important in this world. The cost of household water is also one of the cheapest in Europe.
and
Croatia has a national football team you can be proud of.

I agree with Capio here. Crime happens everywhere, but at least in the UK you can't bribe the old Bill because of what your surname is. The food in the UK is a million times better, factory farms are being banned so I won't get salmonella like I did in Croatia. The TV is better, fewer repeats and the same old US twaddle is easier to avoid, plus the BBC doesn't have adverts! As for Diana, who gives a d**n - the silly manipulative mare is dead! Only Daily Mail and Diana Express readers give a teapot, so it's simple, buy another newspaper!

TV is better. That's the best you can do ? There's plenty of reasons why people would choose to live in Croatia rather than England, and vice-versa it is all about preferences, we're all entitled to live wherever we like, well some of us are more entitled than others sadly. This said his reasons are mor, onic and bordering on racist. Typical reactionary tabloid gumph that the hang em and flog em brigade love. It's all a bit Alf Garnett. One should be pulled towards somewhere rather than be pushed away from somewhere. If somebody says... I moved to Croatia because of the beautiful coastline I'd fully understand, if they said they moved to Croatia because of the racial tolerance, I can barely raise a smile. Amazingly he even mentioned car crashes, I'll assume he doesn't drive in Croatia because the standard of driving is MUCH lower. You're an Anglophobe so your subjective views do not count, especially as you have never lived in England.

I have lived in England but couldn't stand it for more than 2 months. My views aren't subjective, I listed simple facts. Do you really think it's just my opinion that Croatia has some of the best fresh water resources in Europe ? Your a funny one.

I s'pose I should give a reasoned opinion, but that doesn't seem to work on this board. And I can't be @rsed today.
Suffice to say.....the UK sucks.
Croatia's miles better.

I take it you can't/don't read local papers? About the horrible murders taking place here? The fact that Croatia has more people dying on the road than the UK per capita? That racial and ethnic tensions are an ongoing source of problem for the government here that is rarely addressed (you can flick on the evening news on any channel here and see this from Romany people being intimidated out of their homes by local Croats and vice versa) and a major sticking point in EU accession. While the active discrimination in hiring policy by MUP in the police force is so so reminiscent of the old RUC in Northern Ireland - with no fewer than 8 cases of racial abuse and bullying (which led to the officers - 8 - quitting the force) in 2005-6 still being processed, the most famous being a former Zagreb-based Detective being bullied to a suicide attempt because he is Croatian-Serb and married to a Zagreb Croat woman. And what is the problem with ethnic minorities being in local society and police force Upthevilla? Do you believe that Polish people living in Ireland should not be allowed to join the Gardai? Isn't that discrimination? The girls are as pretty as you want them to be and certainly no better than anywhere else, a day in London will make your neck ache from double takes at the lookers on view (with better dress and make up sense than here, in all fairness). While needing to fight after drinking is something that really is something you should have kept to yourself, and I'm certain that when you want to fight there are more than enough gombeens willing to help out. Typical tabloid reports, but good for open discussion. Oh, and if you've tasted organic wine from Cork you'd agree it's as good as the oversugared stuff that passes for organic in some places here, but not as good as the good stuff. Last week someone brought me over a copy of a British newspaper nothing special you ask, well it just reiterated why we are here. Happy, d**n you to hell, now I've just remembered I bought stuff to clean out the kettle, d**n you again! It plays havoc with kettles, boilers (which massively reduce efficiency thus creating unwanted energy waste and thus more pollution - as well as costing more). And for pipes (especially if they're still lead ones) it's a nightmare as the fuzz builds up and shuts everything down. I wouldn't mind if all this was healthy and good for bones, teeth etc, but it's not. Still, we have the sun, and we're not mugged on the way to the corner shop, well, shop down the road.

The hard water here annoys me too but it's better than drinking recycled sewage.

I'm confused, if all the fresh water resources is not for drinking, what good does it do? Keep drinking the hard water ...... I'm sure it's good for your teeth.
