Changing the subject slightly, I have a Croatian bank account with Nova Banka, Zadar. You don't get bank statements so I went to one of their branches to get the online banking CD, filled in the forms etc. only to be told that foreigners (even with property here) are not allowed to use the online banking system.

I am surprised they didn't charge you 100 kunas to tell you that.

Privredna Banka has a "lite" online access where you can monitor your accounts, but you can not do transactions. If you have a company you can get full access to the company account for all types of transactions.

Dont worry about Paypal. Paypal sucks bigtime, not only from Croatian point of view, but even for those who can use it. Visit www.paypalsucks.com and www.paypalwarning.com and see. There is much theft through Paypal. Even countries like Slovenia cannot use paypal completely. For example, Slovenia was enlisted last month (together with few other new EU states) as country that can ONLY send payments through Paypal, but cant receive anything. Avoid Paypal.

Following on from Mark's slight digression: I have an account with Nova Banka and can use on-line banking system to view my account. Am told I will be able to transact business on-line in the near future. They didn't charge me anything for the information and even phone me (in UK) to let me know when money transfers have arrived safely. As I keep saying, you only get out what you put in - and I don't mean the account!!
