The latest diagnosis requires him to be confined to bed, in hospital, for the next three weeks, followed by ten weeks of gentle recovery.
I reckon its all being stretched out because he is paying cash! ;D
I will of course pass on best wishes from everyone, and the Rajkia suggestions, I know he will appreciates it.

An "average case" of laparoscopic discectomy goes home after the op : within 24 hours , here/Germany/NL etc...; bad cases remain in hospital for a few days , 5-6 is the absolute max. , known to my prof. surgeon ; just what is The Problem with pf and/or Varazdin clinic where he currently is , pray ?

I couldn't agree more Ray, 3 weeks on his back seems very strange to me. As a chronic back sufferer myself for over 20 years, modern treatment has certainly been much more toward getting people off their back and mobile again asap.
I am no doctor, so I am sure that they know what they are doing.
The doctor/spet/consultant in charge of Ribs case has all the diplomas, chants, potions, bat wings, spiders legs and spells you could ever imagine. ;D

"Please remind him not to share the Rakija with the surgeon before the operation. "Will do happy! Is Rakija also a laxative? Might help the poor chap at the moment if it is!

For laxative - that will require a Vindaloo.
Might be difficult to find in Varazdin.

Mrs MG can make the Vindaloo, but I dont think the nurses will appreciate it the next day....... ;D
Have just spoken to the poor fellow, and he thanks you all for your kind support and wishes, and he will try to get onto forum/email asap.

Earlier accounts of my demise have been somewhat exaggerated, sadly however, not by much. i am writing this whilst laying sideways in my hospital bed which is not exactly a comfy position so i'll keep this short.
It seems I have 2 herniated discs brouhght about via a lifestyle of indolence and sloth yet still believing I possessed the core muscle power to shovel snow from my driveway and that of my elderley (yet fit) neighbours.
In short, the pain is indescribeable and mostly inescapeable unless your stomach can handle the super-strong drugs and their horrible side effects, which mine cannot. Please take a tip from my continuing experience and google "core muscle strength"... or risk sobbing your heart out in sheer pain. my thanks for all your good wishes but, seriously, i,ve had enough now. home seems a million miles away right now.
