Finally! - The last 16 km of the motorway from Split to Ploce opened just before Christmas. Now you can avoid the narrow and slow road from Vrgorac to Ploce and cut-off about an hour's traveling time. Also opened is a short stretch that leads into Bosnia Herzegovina and that is certain to relieve the main roads of much heavy lorry traffic and tourist busses for Medjugorje. The building of the BiH part of the motorway seems to be progressing well towards Mostar and will open to Pocitelj in 2014. Sadly, I cannot find any news about the Peljesac bridge and the motorway further on to Dubrovnik.

That's great news. Whole journey takes about 20 minutes less than before. The only thing I hate is always traffic jam just before Dubrovnik but I think there is no way to do something with that

A new short stretch of the motorway is now open in Bosnia and Herzegovina from The border Bijeca. When you come from the north and are going for Mostar or Sarajevo, it can be an advantage to go on it to the very end three km from Medjugorje. The road from here towards Capljinja is quite poor, but towards Medjugorje and then towards Mostar the road is fine. Coming from the south the motorway is only useful if you are heading for Medugorje. Then drive to Metkovic turn towards Ljubuski, cross the border at Prud and drive down the motorway from there.

I hope that Peljesac bridge will be built soon to save some time and trouble with crossing borders in Neum

I don't think there's a budget or a plan at this time.
