Cheaper places tend to be more affordable to stay in, Irz1. The cheaper they are, the more affordable, in my experience. You can you google, "Croatia, bring-your-own-sleeping-bag, field next to pig farm" - which I'd suggest tends to be as affordable as they get, and also pretty safe - and work upwards from there. Or you could try this: croatia.hr/en-GB/Homepage Happy searching, dugodude

What are the most affordable places to stay (safe, quality.price ) ? Islands and town of Dubrovnik are expensive places. If you are going on summer vacation try town of Biograd or Vodice. If you are interested in rural tourism region of Slavonia is really affordable. Cheap accommodation, restaurants, bars, everything ...

Most places are safe, aren't they? I've gone out leaving my door open (accidentally of course). When I got home, I wasn't really bothered because I didn't expect a problem.
However, i did it once in England - actually my 9 year old did it - and my heart nearly stopped when I pulled into the drive and saw that the front door was wide open.
Nothing happened either time, but the point is I couldn't believe my luck the 2nd time, whereas in Croatia, I didn't expect anything worse than a stray cat.
