First Time holiday in Croatia

Hi,
My husband and I are hoping to holiday in Croatia from mid September for 2 weeks.  We are in our mid forties and enjoy the beach resort type holiday, but we would also like to take a few days hiring a car and travelling around a bit of Croatia.  I think we've decided to leave Dubrovnik and do a long weekend trip at a later stage for it, so I would really appreciate any ideas, suggestions for our holiday.  Was thinking of Porec in the Istria area or the South Dalmation Coast or Makarska Riviera???  I'm a bit of a sun worshipper so would really like the poolside burn for at least a week as part of this.

It's all good Sharon. My preference for the beaches would be Makaska, Brela. Then you also get the chance to do Day trips to Brač, Split, White water rafting, Trogir, Krka NP. By mid September it will also be cooler & quieter but sea temps are walm.
