European Coastal Airlines is to begin with charter flights to Croatian islands this summer. All Croatian islands, as well as the neighbouring countries will thus be well connected with Croatian inland. There will be a direct connection with several European cities. The air base will be situated in Pula (in Istria), and the seaplanes will connect the islands with Rijeka, Pula, Dubrovnik, Split and some other coastal cities. This is great not only for businessmen, but also for all of those who wish to avoid more complicated and slower ways of transport.
DURATION and PRICES for some of the regular flights: from Split to Hvar: 15 minutes from Pula to Mali LoĊĦinj and from Rijeka to Rab: 18 minutes (37 euros, PDV included) from Dubrovnik to Mljet: 20 minutes
Also, seaplanes can take off and land WHEREVER YOU CHOOSE because you can hire them for a certain period of time. For these special flights that you yourself plan, prices depend on the duration of flight. One hour costs 1500 euros + PDV (which is an extra 22% of the price). But these seaplanes transport up to 10 people, so even if you hire one, you can split the cost with 9 other people interested in visiting the same location as you.
In one hour, a seaplane crosses 240 kilometres!

hydroplanes = seaplanes or flying boats
hydroplane in english normaly means a fast surface skimming flat bottomed boat or a control fin for a submarine.
ECA have been about for a couple of years now, we have one of their posters in our office as decoration (I like sea planes!)

It must be a good deal for someone (but don't look at me). Anyway, even if we ourselves never do it, it's good to at least have the option and to know that you could do it if you wanted to. I know ECA have been struggling for two years now to get this project going, but it's only now that they managed to get all the licences etc. needed. So, I've used the wrong term. Just great. Anyway, thanks for telling me, I'll try to undo the damage. I wouldn't really want to land on water either (scared less) but these sea planes apparently land on ground as well. It's some modern almighty stuff. If someone tries them out, let us know! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you, bon voyage!
