Any ideas? Ideally with nice, cheap places to stay and a beach. What's Cavtat like?

Hi, I would really recommend cavtat - it's nice and quiet. Not sure whether there's a sandy beach around the back somewhere; I like swimming off rocks, so that's what I did in Cavtat - take some placcy shoes with you tho as there are horrid urchins. The Atlas travel agy. can rent you rooms there - they'll be basic-ish but fully functional and cheap. There are regular buses which run to Dubrovnik, as well as a little ferry which is good for novelty value. It's also really near to the airport (but not really any noticeable plane noise).

Thanks. Any idea if Atlas is open on a Sunday (when I arrive) or is it best to book ahead? Suspect we will just got to Tourist Info when we get to the airport anyway. Does anyone know if this is open on Sundays?

I would try and book ahead if I were you. You'll find the tel. no on the atlas web page at www.atlas.hr (think that's right). They will speak Enlgish. I seem to remember that we arrived on a sunday and there was someone there but it's worth checking. BTW, I wouldn't recommend the italian based accomodation agencies, as they are ridiculously overpriced. Have a nice time, Laura

If you do go to Cavtat you should try the restaurant I went to there - it's a seafood place called something like "Leut" (spelling?) on the waterfront. If the weather is nice it's lovely to eat out there on the little terrace there.
