Has anyone dealt with an agent or agencies in the Zadar to Split area that they would be confident about referring? I'm planning initially to spend a week in the area trying to get a feel for it and would like to be able to go and speak to a few agents and also locals to try and see if this is area that could interest me. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has recently dealt with an agent in these areas that they'd have no problems recommending. Thanks, Paul

We are also visiting the Zadar area for 2 weeks from 8th May & are interested in details of reputable estate agents. When is your visit planned for?

Hi there, We're heading out from the 7th till 12th of May. At this stage we know it's going to take a few visits and this one is just to try and met some agents and have a look around the area. Have you been previously? and have you made any contacts there yet?

Drop me a mail at chris@mjc [dot] co [dot] uk and I'll tell you what I learned when I went through the same loop as you some two months ago. There's at least one excellent agency that I can recommend, and some other more general info. I can also give you details of my english speaking lawyer in Zadar.

Thanks for the referral Chris. In the end we went to Split where we were put in touch with a fellow Ex-pat who showed us around a few properties, the local restaurants and bars too. We think that we've found something rather special in Split as it a beautiful place with some fantastic shops and cafe's. Well worth a look.

Hi Croatia Holiday and Home is independent and has no fixed ties to estate agents, developers, holiday companies, national airlines, etc. We can recommend those with the track record to support their operation, and only deal with companies or individuals offering the best service. We tell you our experiences, and our website visitors' experiences, of Croatia to enable you to have a stress free holiday or a pain free property purchase. www.Croatia-HolidayandHome.co.ukThe site to visit for buying property or holidaying in Croatia info@Croatia-HolidayandHome.co.uk

I have bad experiences with www.dalmatianvilla.com. They are too aggressive like many of the larger agents. I.e. Broker and TRGOstan. All they want to do is make a sale. I dealt with an agent call Milenka Real Estate www.milenkarealestate.com . I just got back from Island Brac after viewing some properties with them. The agent’s name is Ljiljana Poklepovic. She is a recommended agent on Martin’s book. She specialized on Island Brac but can help in other areas. She is very pleasant and provides an excellent service. I'm hoping to return soon to view more lands and houses with sea view from her. They have a large listing of different types of properties. Didn't have time to see everything I wanted. Budget at least 3-4 days for viewings if you are looking to buy a property. Tim Jones timjones_uk2000@yahoo.co.uk

I've seen houses with about 5-20k difference in price between agents, but usually if you look a little closer you'll see that the dearer agent maybe charges a 3% fee, while the cheaper one charges 6%.
A dearer listing price doesn't necessarily mean that an agent isn't "reliable". Ditto for a website that hasn't been updated for a couple of weeks.

Glory, not sure I understand why you don't rate Martin's site. You mention a house on Hvar for 350 or 370. Just checked it out and he is advertising it at 350, another agent at 360 and yet another for 370. Does this not suggest that he has the right source? Please explain. As for 5-20k differences, Jan, look at the difference between Martin's PB106 and www.realestatecroatia.com/hrv/detail.asp?id=9701, a mere 60,000 euro. Martin's agent would have to be taking a hefty percentage to equalise the price difference there.

confused, that's some price difference all right! I think I have you beat though, I once saw a price diff. of 100K ;D (I suspect it was just a typo though , so you still win )

georgeba,
I agree with you "Glory's message must be pulled off. This board should not become an arena of ethnic hostilities. "
Whether you are a Brit, Croat, etc....makes no difference in real estate business.
Glory, the fact you are from dalmatianvillas.com should know better not to post this type of information on this board. If this is how you operate I wonder how your company operates.
