Hi all, Ihave been looking in on your forum over the past few weeks picking up some gems of wisdom/experience. I like everyone else it seems am looking to buy a residence in Croatia. The areas that I have in mind in particular include Brela, Korcula & Hvar.
My problem is that I am findiing it difficult to make contacts with agent. I will be in Croatia again between 11th and 15th September and was hoping to view some properties then.
Any chance that someone out there could point me in the right direction. And by the way what are the formalities with regard to viewing property in Croatia.
Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks, Biffo

Hi Biffo,
I sent you an instant message as well.
Research, and research well.
Don't go over to Croatia 'on spec', you have to be able to judge if what an agent tells you is factual information, or just sales talk.
Don't forget all the agent wants to do is sell, it is difficult to expect them to give you impartial advice, so you need to make your own judgement call, weighing up what they tell you, versus the knowledge you have gained through your own research.
Have a good luck through this discussion board, and I'd say that is a good starting point, drawing up a list of 'Pros' and Cons' for your chosen area and budget.
Viewing Property in Croatia seems to be a bit like fishing. You see a glimpse of the fish (on the internet normally), you go down down to your local fishing tackle shop (book flights), you bring your bait with you (money, travel over) and then you cast your line, and you'll be darn lucky to catch an agent who will show you the property you were interested in you saw only 48 hours earlier on the internet or was told was available.
Don't forget the agents have bait as well, so again, go through this discussion board, and there appears to be certain agents that I wouldn't even attempt to contact, as their reputation precedes them.
Agents normally charge a fee (€50-€150) to see property 'to avoid timewaster' or not to be ' tourist guides', which I guess is fair enough.
Contact me through the instant message service if you wish, and I'll send you some links which may be of interest.
