Look when someone says the amount of terrible stuff that he said.... he even said in other posts not to move to croatia.
It is hipocrital to suggest places to live.... when your belief is "Don't move to Croatia". because of the horrible snobby people and corrupt government and jealous people....
It makes me laugh that in one breath he is cursing it then in another he is recommending it.

hmmmmm. yeah, croatia is a terrible place to live . but what makes it bareable is if you can buy some property thats not too close to the locals , so that you can have some peace and quite .rent out to tourists. and all that after hopefully getting all your paperwork done in the local opcine and other government instituitions. try moving from a western country to a town like split. there aint nothing nice in that . people there are unbareable. the majority of them anyway. croatia is a nice place to live if you dont have to rely too much on croatian ifrastrcuture and you dont have to to business with the locals. then you can sit back and relax the warm medditteranean atmosphere. i agree with antillo.

Why Croatia. Peope asked me that question. But if you are going to buy, then buy, and shut up moaning. Criatia is okay. But if you do buy, other than the legal things. Like...what you are buying is legal. Check out..will it stand the cold. Because the winters are cold. Bloody cold. And keep right on with the system for aliens. Because that is an ongoing situation. Keep yourself legal. And then, when you have insulated, or frozen. And I have done both....Croatia is very relaxed. Depends what you want. And, learn to cook. Because Croatian food, after a few months, is monumentally boring. It all depends what you want. How old you are etc. Everything IS available in Croatia. Live long and prosper. Just like outer space. But better than a lot of places. Why the islands? You have to get to and from the islands. Will you fit in to a trapped community? It can be...trying....Anywhere trapped....believe me. And I don't live on an island. I live on a peninsula...And I know the ass*holes who are 'doing things' are probably living within 30 metres of my house. Bad things. Very bad things. Think about it. But I'll get them. I am bigger than they are.......

On Saturday morning on RTE (our national broadcaster) consumer affairs show, they had a 15 minute section on overseas investment.
For the first time that I have known, Bank Property Fund managers have publically advised Croatia, Bulgaria and Turkey as their best locations for property growth over the next 10 years. (In that order)
Previous to this interview, all I heard from these 'financial institutions' spokespeople was about volatility, accessibility problems etc.... and then they advised that investors stick to historical markets of Ireland and UK.
This was a very extraordinary statement from such a conservative source, and a positive one I think for the economy.
If these ultra risk adverse fund administrators are willing to invest their millions into Croatia, then it is a very good sign.

Hi! Leebo When I went out to buy I hadnt a clue , so I went up and down the coast. I determined that I wanted investment property and that I wanted to rent as well as have a holiday if the mood struck . This is how I eliminated. I bought 2 on Brac for capital appreciation and 3 in Trogir for appreciation and rental income. Lots of new builds happening all over Brac. Brac is accessible and growing but it is closed in the winter and I mean closed!Trogir and ciovo are built up but you can rent almost year round and its close to the airport, but not a quiet spot! I also got in touch with a lot of agents and let them sell their properties to me at full trottle so I could make informed decisions and compare the information. Do not let an agent determine what you will buy and where they are sales people first and foremost, know what you are looking for and then go on a road trip. The market in Croatia is exploding and lots of new builds are going up. The Gov are trying to slow this down right now so watch out for lots of possible restrictions. Also if you want to let , as a foreigner you have no right if you buy personally but if you buy as a company you can..Of course all the regs are changing so fast as the Government tries to keep up with the foreign investment. So I would go have some fun spend your hols tavelling and getting a feel and decide then what I would like, find an agent tell them what you want get your own lawyer make sure he /she speaks English and stay on this board for help as their are lots of us out there that have learnt by our mistakes!
