Has anyone had a really good response from advertising their property for rental?
We have a 3 bed stone house, front line to sea near Omis in Dalmatia and wondering the best place to advertise it for rentals.
Has anyone any websites or agents they can recommend or have you developed your own website? Really interested to find out how everyone else has got on.

I agree with Holiday-Rentals and it is not enough. You have to invest time and money in several different sites. There is a community of owners discussing on www.laymyhat.com/forum/index.php. The place is full of sensible advice.

I'm not sure I agree that advertising with these sites is the only way to go, everybody has their own ideas I would personally go one of two routes.
Either use a company like cottages to castles, who do everything for you and are fairly new to Croatia. They do demand complete control of your apartment but they are a professional company who put your property in traditional flyers that are in travel agents as well as the net. They also travel to the area.
Or do it yourself, invest in a good site, this is very important; it is your image. Use overture and google pay per click which allows you to be at the top of search engines under certain key words. Such as "croatia villa". Dubrovnik holiday etc. Advertise away from the net, it is not the only route.

Nahh..I just keep my ears to the ground...I have consider investing in property here but I still feel the buy to let market in the uk is more profitable as I can rent all year around and have the same people in for 6 months. Also the paperwork surrounding property ownership is perhaps the most screwed up litigation in Croatia; when the government computerises their system and actually decides who owns what, then it will be worth looking at.
I would probably get involved if the industry wasn't full of charlatans and chancers investing their last kuna with a dream of being the new Donald Trump. Most of these people don't pay any taxes or really have any idea how to run a business.

Spot on old bean. My business has a big website, www.speedflow.co.uk which took me a year to learn how to do and develop it - but it is part of the service, not a good place to find new customers. Advertise with care and not too small, use that to guide people to the website where they can read about you at their leisure. I reckon Dalton's weekly is the place to find UK customers for holiday rentals, that'd be my first choice although I haven't investigated it as I'm not in that line of business. The website gives you a chance to say all the things you couldn't afford to put in the adverts. IMHO

Martin Westby has an interesting slant on renting out your property. I am not saying that you should use Martins services but he seems to have the legal and tax aspects documented www.croatia-holidayandhome.co.uk/rental-directory/rental-law.htmlI have seen it elsewhere that any rentals must be via a Croatian d.o.o. but I can't find the link at the moment.

I am having a good year with my properties in Ciovo and have actually used some of the services above. I think the trick is to take the bull by the horns and invest abit of time, money and effort into the advertising.

We have our own website which has been very successful - www.croatianholidayhomes.com. We would gladly offer you a link from that if you wanted to try that avenue. Kind regards. Karen.

???Hi I understand it can be confusing where to advertise your property. :DI recently launched www.bespokeholidayrentals.co.uk - we advertise privatley owned holiday accommodation throughout Europe and Florida. As we are new I am currently offering 18 months advertising for the price of 12 - that is £100. We are cheaper than our competitors and there is space for 15 photographs to give people a real feel for your property. We are listed with all the major search engines. ;DMost importantly we do not charge commision and enquiries/bookings go directly to the owners. 8-)I hope this is useful. ::)Please don't hesitate to e-mail me with any queries tracey@bespokeholidayrentals.co.ukThanks!
