Hi! I am just in the process of buying a house in Istria (as a private individual) with the intention of letting. From a rental point of view, it now appears it may have been easier to set up a company and buy in the company's name, however, that comes with other obligations, costs, etc. (too late for me to do this now). There seems to be a limit as to how much income you can earn on your property if you are renting as an Individual. I beleive it is up to 85,000 kune (i.e. £8500). After that you have to either become a Croatian Company or a Trade and you have to charge VAT? I would love to hear from anyone who is successfully renting out a property in Croatian and has bought as an individual - what, if any, are the ways around these complications? I wish I'd known earlier what I was letting myself in for! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, can anyone help? I am looking for similar advice as Ciara. I am a British citizen looking into buying an apartment for family holidays in the Split area or one of the nearby islands. I am travelling to Croatia in a couple of weeks to view apartments. Once I’ve bought the apartment I would be interested in renting it out during the peak tourist months. But I’m having trouble getting consistent information on a couple of points: - I’m looking at the pros & cons of buying as an individual or setting up a company. Does this decision affect my ability to rent the apartment to tourists? - I know that I need a Tourist Rental License. Where can I get this from? Do I need to obtain this myself, or can a property management company obtain it on my behalf? All info greatfully recieved !

can i hear what your stories are in relation to this did you get your licences what trouble did you run into and in particular info on prop man companies
