Having read through allot of posts on this forum I am still none the wiser about laws regarding renting out property.
We live in the UK and are looking at buying somewhere on the Croatian coast. My wife is Croatian so buying a property will be relatively simple, and we have already seen a few and pretty much know what we want. We will not rely on renting it out on it but want to make sure that we can do if we decide to, even if it only to friends and relatives.
Simple questions which we would appreciate an answer to are,
1, Should we/she buy as a company or private individual with a view that we may rent it out. 2, Do you have to start a company to rent a property? 3, Are the rules different if the owner is Croatian?

In short put it in your wifes name. You don't have to start up a company to rent it out, but you need to notify the authorities and so forth. If you put it in your name you will have to go through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which takes about 2000 years. Anyway that's what I'd do, it would be the simplest way, and I like life simple.

Thankyou for the reply. That is what we had planned to do as I was sure that must be the easiest way but just wanted to confirm it really was.
We have agreed the puchase today so it should be all completed in the next couple of months.
Anynody who has experience of renting out their property, we would be greatful to hear their advice? Particularly interested in what is invloved in informing the authorities and so forth.
