Hi all, I was wondering if I could ask for some advice.
My wife and I are planning on living/staying in Croatia for about a year. We are taking a year off from our life and want to spend it in Croatia.
We have been in Croatia for just almost 3 months now, and we are not really sure what to do. Before we left the USA the Croatian Embassy in Washington, DC told us to not bother filing for temp residency. They told us it would be best to just leave the country (Croatia) every 3 months and just go back. They said to go to Montenegro or something. This would resent our stay any we would be good for another 3 months. Now this was what we were told by the Croatia embassy.
So, when we got here we got to our apartment, which we have a lease on for 12 months. We went to the police station with our landlord and the lease (which says it is a 12 month lease) and registered. Now that our 3 months is just about up we are not sure if we should leave and come back or if we should submit our temp residency paperwork.
If we were to follow the advice of the Embassy and just leave for a day and come back, would we need to re-register with the police? This is where we are confused. As I said, we registered once with our 12-month lease the first time, so will they let us register again under the same lease?
We are so confused as to what will be the best approach.
If anyone can help, we would greatly appreciate it. We just don't know what to do.
Many thanks,
