NIKH aren't you an irish agent yourself? You know there is a british tv programme called Big Brother where recently one of the contestants told another contestant (who came from another country) to "go home". It was considered offensive and caused a major row ....

No carol im not and she was one of your Country men.You are however an agent and use this forum likes its your personal sales pitch. That however, is not the point im making. If you step into someones fromt room and then proceed to tell them you dont like the curtains the carpet how thye cook or anything else about their home, then leave, why should a whole nation change who they are because a handful of foreigners dont like the way they do things. I have only had problems with foreign agents who think they know better than anyone else and have a superior attitude a bit like the one you are showing now Carol. The Croatians have been the best part of Croatai and yes they do have their difficulties but as an agent you are selling their properties and I assume entered the market to do so because you saw a future. They are making changes and I hope they come sooner than later because im not saying its not difficult and that its not a struggle but an emerging market is just that !

NIKH... she was from Liverpool and I am from Scotland (different countries - well at least as far as the Scots and the english are concerned). But even if she was from my country I would not take responsibility for her behaviour just as if i was Irish I would not take responsibility for yours. Now why do I think i you are an agent? oh, yes its because you wrote on your website to say you had decided to start selling property! To quote your website: "we have now decide to enter this market officially and have acquired an number of off plan properties to sell direct from the developer".

Carol, if you have been on my website then you have hacked into my computer, as it hasnt been launched yet. Their will be 3 launched at the same time in conjunction with a well known telecom company they are Polish Slovenian and Dalamtian investments. Thanks for the opportunity to do some self promotion. They should be launched within the next few weeks and im sure you will find useful ,as it is a portal of information for agents and buyers alike in the above markets. Now if you dont mind i have things to do and one of them is not getting into a slanging match with an agent that feels her space is threatened. End of message and end of thread

NIKH, think you are being a little harsh on Carol and certainly jumping to conclusions about hacking into computers. Just been on your home page and cut and pasted this:

Am sure all of us have got better things to do than waste time on silly accusations back and forth, but can see how and why Carol thought you might be an agent if you are advertising on your own website that you are selling properties.

Nikh and Carol, in all fariness you've both used the forum as a sales pitch on more than a few occasions, Nikh your "send me a pm" is a self-promotion, Carol you've pumped Kastela more than once. Nikh, there are good and bad agents here and very few trained, it'll take time for the "industry" to move forward, but it will, but it'll take government regulation and that will not happen soon.
Carol, I don't know if you or Niamh can be called agents, isn't it better to be property "consultants", sounds more snazzy by far!

I have said it before but there are some Croatian agents who are honest and know how things should be done. In the absence of a legislative framework they are frustrated and restricted just like the rest of us. Maybe we Aussies are overly polite but sometimes these posts get a bit nasty.

My old lawyer was the co boss of Rijekas largest agency, I would rather not use names but its not the one you mentioned. My new lawyer is terrific and has a second in command who is a qualified legal translator from Croatian to English. If anyone wants the good lawyers name I am happy to supply it.

Irac - I have properties for sale on my website all around the coast. Yes I live in Kastela but originally i didn't plan to sell property here. It was just a good central, cheap base from which to run the business. Things have changed and now there is some interest in the place, mainly from the large scale investors and people from Split trying to buy something affordable (NB neither group predominate on this site and we do our advertising elsewhere for these markets). On this forum I am writing about Kastela mostly from a personal perspective. Please don't say that this means that I don't appreciate Kastela or think it has a future because that would be a misrepresentation but for me it is mostly a place to live and base my business, rather like Knin is for you.

As to being formally trained its true that there is no widly recognised qualification yet but there are some new exams coming soon (in may 2007). We have enrolled our staff, but i sincerely hope that they will not have much to learn because I believe we already know and practice our jobs quite thoroughly, including when and how to tell a vendor that their expectations of the price they can get for their property are too high.
