Alot of the post on this site complain about the problems caused by the Croat bureaucracy. In my experience they make things harder but it is the agents, lawyers sellers who make me want to throw my hands up and surrender. I am negotiating to buy a few places at the moment. In one of them the buyer is insisting on Euros in cash. As a company to do this I would have to convert $A into Kuna and then buy Euros. This would lose me approx 6%. I have refused and the sale is in jepardy. With the other place there is a court case over a right of way. I asked the agents lawyer his legal opinion on the case and he said that he is just there as a middleman, not to offer legal advice! The agent absolutely wont do the contract in English as this is too much trouble. Today I have a new and better lawyer and I have ditched the agency which is the biggest in Rijeka.
