One thing you have to keep in mind as well is the Bura. The area from Crkvenica until almost Zadar experiences a lot more Bura than other regions and I can guarantee you that you won't like the Bura.

The Bura blows through "corridors" along Croatia's entire coastline. The image below shows the major ones. 1) Gulf of Trieste, (2) Kvarner, (3) Velebit Kanal, (4) Sibenik, (5) Split - Makarska, (6) Peljesac and (7) Dubrovnik.

I'd like to point out that Zadar is very well sheltered from bura and probably gets less bura than any other coastal town. On so many occasions Maslenica was closed because of very strong bura and in Zadar 20 kms away we only had a bit of coldish wind.

Quite correct, Zadar very rarely feels any effect from the bura, as you say, a slight breeze at the most (on a bad day)

Mark, Thank you for that great map. Very interesting. . . now when the wind blows and all theos arrows point up wards. .. towards it rains in Istria. . . and the bura coming off of the Ucka Mountain, man is it cold. Our property is elevated with no obstructions and we almost always have a breeze. . . even in the hot summers. This bura can blow right through you . . . man I am shivering right now. . going to go take a walk out in the warm sunshine. . .. beautiful day.

the bura is perhaps the world's best tumble dryer. I'd say in about two minutes of putting your clothes outside, they are completely dry. My mother in law, god bless her, puts her washing out at night. Some witchy thing if you ask me

Just make sure to clamp down all your laundry otherwise you can start searching 5 kms down the road next morning.
The Bura simply goes through the walls, through your skin..............I hate that wind, especially since I have been living in the Caribean for 17 years with minimum temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius each day.

Not only clothes..... but outdoor furniture. Plastic chairs and such. I am in Maslenica right on the sea and I have found our chairs over the wall and in the sea. I found chairs in neighbors yards and forget about umbrella's.... I never find them again.

this is depressing. Everyone is talking about the weather. yeah.. it can be a bit windy, sometimes. No, the locals can't hack it. Is there anything else happening anywhere in Croatia??
