E300 per month? I'm renting out a 55 sq/m modern flat here for 1000HRK per month + bills. I've calculated that selling it and investing in a simple bank/savings account would pay me more and without the hassle. Would it be possible to get an apartment for that price in Zagreb, and is there another website besides www.rentinzagreb.com that have a number of apartments that are available? I wouldn't think so. Here, there are empty apartments but a brisk rental business so things are well balanced at the moment. In Zagreb, the demand is much greater. Sold the flat today. What to do with these kunas is the next question.

I live in Zagreb and the rent here usually is around 300-400 EUR per month plus expenses, for foreigners. All the apartments are older and usually come fully furnished (with quite old furniture).
I know a few instances where the rent was 200 EUR per month, but those were rates where the people knew the owners personally.
I know of a new apartment here that is around 57sqm with parking that will become available around summer for 400 EUR I think.
300-400 Euro seems to be the norm for the average Zagreb apartment.
Hope this helps.

Good Morning Zagzag, Not sure if it is suitable but I need someone long term to look after my house as I am returning to England for an indefinite period. I have a two bedroom, air-conditioned apartment on the seafront in a small village about 35 minutes from Zadar. Beautiful hot summers, mild winters and no snow to speak of. PM me if you are interested. I am not looking for much in the way of rent but there would be other responsibilities.

I just found a place in ZG for 3000kn plus bills. It not a bad price.
What are you used to? I looked and a whole host of apartments and some were high quality, but always a high price. The one I chose is very comfortable and cheap. Takes time to find the right place.

If anyone out there is looking for an apartment in zagreb, my mother inlaw will be renting one out as of early april. Furnished 47 m2 with terrace and small garden not too far from center. Suits couple or 1 person. 350 euro a month + bills. Send me a pm if you're interested.
A friend of mine recently rented a 55m2 place for 1600 kuna a month in Precko !! It needed a lot of cleaning and painting but in the end it's turned out to be a bargain. They are out there if you look long and hard enough.

Or....
"Detached, 2 double bedroom house with seperate appartment in the basement, 30 mins drive outside Zagreb in the countryside. All services connected and in good order throughout. Furnished.
2000kn Month"
Why live in the smog when you can enjoy the country!

There is a real estate agency in Croatia that has some Zagreb apartments for long term rental on their site, www.consiliator.hr

I think the length of stay you are looking at is considered short term rental, not long term. Try here. www.rentinzagreb.com

Heard a few bad stories from foreigners and Croatians who rent apartments from locals in Zagreb. I guess it could happen in any place in the world, but still...
The biggest surprise for me, for example, was that owners of apartments who may back to Zagreb for holidays demand that they stay in their apartments they've rented out. This has happened to 2 Croatians that I know. One landlord asked the tenants to go somewhere else for 3 weeks (with 1 week notice given) so they could stay in their apartment. Another landlord just told the tenants to move into the spare room when they came to Zagreb for one month and the landlords took over the tenant's room in the apartment. They even had people over, parties etc.
Another poor Spanish lady that I know noticed things around her apartment moved and phoned the landlady to say that she thought someone was coming into her apartment while she wasn't home. The landlady told her that she entered the apartment now and then to make sure the apartment was kept clean! That was without permission. She proceeded then to tell the girl to make her bed more often LOL.
Another foreign couple that I know were subjected to surprise "inspections", whereby the landlady would show up now and then and demand to come inside to check if things were clean. Regardless of whether they had guests over, or had just woken up etc...she would just show up and come in and poke around and tell them what she wanted cleaned or changed.
I've also known of a few tenants in Zagreb who never get their deposit back for their apartment! It seems that the landlords come up with any kind of story in order not to give them their deposit back.
On the other hand I do know of a few people who rent from locals who have good experiences. These rentals are the bigger kind, you know, they are paying around 7,000 - 10,000 HRK per month. It seems to be the smaller and cheaper apartments that have all the problems with landlords.
