I am staying in hotel Neptune on the waterfront and from photos and web cam couldn’t locate any beaches in the vicinity. Could anyone suggest good, relaxing spots around Porec. Thanks. Ike

The best beach is on the small island opposite Neptune Hotel. There is a regular boat service to the island

There is also a beach(rocky) about 5 minutes from Neptune Hotel, turn right from ther main entrance to the hotel.

Hi Ike and Emma, A friend of mine vactioned in Porec last July for two weeks, and stayed at the Hotel Neptun. She was kind enought to write a report for our website - you can view it at www.visit-croatia.co.uk/holidays/page2.htm. Hope you find some useful info there, and hope you both have good holidays! ;D

We stayed at the Hotel Neptune last August. The food is excellent and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
I have to disagree about the best beach being on the island across from porec. There are a lot of facilities there (bar, restaurant etc) but we found the water really murky there with a film on the top of it (all the boats going in and out of the harbour?)
If you turn left out of the hotel and walk round past the Marina there are lots of places to sunbathe and swim there. Nearer the marina it's quite popular and busy - there is a slide into the sea and a cafe, but if you carry on further round past this it quietens out and you can lie under the pine trees. The water here is crystal clear -good for snorkelling.
We really enjoyed Porec and Croatia, so much so we are going to try Hvar this year - on the recommendation of a Croatian bar owner we met who told us he takes his holiday there every year!

First week in August looks popular. I'll be there myself but staying with friends.

I've been living and working near Porec for 2 months now - back off home in a couple of weeks if you want me to help you with anything.
As for the rain - doubtful, but I hope so! It's bloody hot out here at the moment. You should be in for a disgusting amount of sun.
Most beaches are fine round here - better to find somewhere off the beaten track with fewer people - they're all rocky beaches, I haven't heard of any sandy ones...
