There are many. But they keep a low profile and their fans aren't psychotic fanatics (as opposed to when men's football is concerned). The girls in Maksimir (in Zagreb) are the "it girls and team" at the moment. www.nk-maksimir.hr/znk-maksimir/prva_hnzl.htmNot that I myself care about football. ;D

Never heard of. You have to be really talented to lose SO bigtime. But really, I'm no expert. Miss

Hugh Grant himself I can live without, it's the characters he played that I like. I'm dreamy that way. These guys are not exactly lying around, dis... Maybe they are lying in their beds at home, discovering 21st century lazy bohemian lifestyle, I don't know. But I do know that I'm not bumping into them on the streets. Guys that I've been coming across lately have had something in the terms of "sorry, I have my period" written on their T-shirts (seriously, this is not some sick metaphor). Maybe they're the Croatian version of British chavs. Not my cup of tea.

No, there are no other versions of British chavs, they are unique to these islands, only Brits can be so stupid in a ridiculous kind of way. Sorry about your man problem, I guess its more to do with the fact that there is no place left in the world for the traditional male (except maybe the US Army) and a lot of young males who would have conformed to this role just end up feeling sorry for themselves. I myself never realised that no one likes a loser, in fact people hate them. I once spent a whole year doing nothing, just staying up all night reading Kafka and other classic. I mean I guess thats why I fell for a Croatian girl as at least she wanted to have kids. A lot of the girls I met just wanted to travel and smoke dope.
This seems more like a confession but as this post has so many viewings I hopes its of interest to someone, I bet someone just puts no! Anyway got to jo and do some work!
Bye Miss

What do you mean by "traditional males"? You got me confused with the entire sentence: there is no place left in the world for the traditional male (except maybe the US Army) and a lot of young males who would have conformed to this role just end up feeling sorry for themselves.I hope your idea of a "traditional male" is different than mine, although when you mentioned the US army, several question marks appeared in and above my head. In my mind, this term has very negative connotations. It can be summed up as… well, brutes & male chauvinists, still living in the early Victorian age (at best). There are plenty of those in this society, and they are exactly the opposite of what I want. All the guys I meet here ARE "traditional males", THAT is my problem. It would make for a nice change to meet someone more like… Hugh Grant in "9 months", say? ;D (But I'm repeating myself with Hugh here, someone might think I'm obsessed… Am not!) I'm not into traditional roles… I know many Croatian women are (to the point where the stereotype of a "good Croatian wife and child bearer" is being created), but I'm definitely not one of them. In fact, if I had been born at the beginning of the 20th century (in Britain or France, of course), I'd probably have been a suffragette. I think this post has so many viewings because people expect to find info about Croatian women's football, not our rantings. Maybe if you changed the name of the post...? So, are you gonna tell us what happened with the girl?

By traditional male, I meant having a traditional job in a traditional industry, staying married, having children, staying in the same town. What role is the young male supposed to perform now? Women are competing for the same jobs. Now don't get me wrong, women can do whatever men can, like play football! It is not (in my opinion) a negative term to say traditional male. It used to exist but no longer does. Likewise the traditional female, is disappearing too. Its just that if your parents performed those roles in their life and placed a blueprint on you to do the same, as a male you will find it diffilcult to adjust to life as those roles no longer exist. For a woman there is the advantage that more roles in society have opened up. For the man this is the reverse. So perhaps in Croatia it may be wise to look for men who are not influenced by there parents(possible?) if not I think you may have to look elsewhere! Oh did you know one of the suffragettes through herself under a horse at the Grand National. I think they were essentially about getting the vote for women.
and of course I married the croatian girl to have lots of anglo croat kids! Hurragh!
I don't think Hugh's married Jemima Khan yet! She does have nice hair.
P.S. I'm not interested in football either, I just found the woman's game more interesting as they seem to get on with the game a bit quicker!

About men, women, their roles, domestic vermin… we could go on and on… it's all been said before, anyway. Like they say in "Before Sunrise", if you've seen it. I love that film! (But I hear that the sequel, "Before Sunset" is lousy… like most sequels are) As this is a very traditional (read: conservative) society, the word "traditional" here means something different from what it means in today's Britain/USA etc. It has more (oppressive) weight, if you will. That's why you might say I'm a bit allergic to it, sorry. Men in this particular society have nothing to worry about just yet, their roles have not drastically changed. I know the suffragettes' role, I just mentioned them figuratively speaking. For the rest, we have organisations such as B.A.B.E. ;D No wonder the government refused to give them funds this year. Are you suggesting that I stalk Hugh? Phew! I'm sure he'd be ecstatic. All in all, no go. Yup, from what you've said about one of the Cro gal teams, one might conclude that they sure do lose a lot, which makes the game more… dynamic. ;D

I suppose that's why I asked the question about women's football as Croatia were not in the Women's European Cup, which is a shame. I'm sure Croatia has the expertise to have a good national side. You've changed your saying under your logging, are you not that optimistic anymore? Where are you going to get your man?

I'm afraid that Croatian women are more of a "fashion victims & co." kind of clientele than Sporty Spice wannabes. My previous avatar text said "there should be a law against messiahs", how did you manage to read optimism into it? It was taken from Amélie Nothomb's novel "Cosmétique de l'ennemi" (Cosmetics of the enemy? – I'm not sure it was translated like this into English, but that's what it means). Great piece of writing, I strongly recommend it. Now I have something by Oscar Wilde, I love the man. It doesn't really reflect my current mood, I just find it well said. It'll be gone in a week or so. I have no idea where I'm gonna get my man ;D , any suggestions?

its just that your user name is a happy one and your avatar is a pessimistic one. thinking about it, you'll kow when you meet Mr Right because everything will be right! Maybe you should look outside Croatia!
