As boring as calling yourself nameless? Emiz is a necessary evil, he is grim reality, and if you don't like it you don't want the truth. Evey time we ignore the truth a part of the world dies.

Ghost, err...it's quite obvious you are a native speaker of American English.

CoLoRie,
Is it oversea's or overseas?
so tree's bee's bug's but not oversea's?
I think that was what you were saying.
Your English is excellent! ;D Especially since you have not had it for a while in school.

CoLorie,
Out of curiousity..... Since you are from Zadar... you will probably understand.
Do you say Super alot?
I had to get rid of that expression and ej or eh... My relatives in America said it is annoying because I use to say Super alot and ej, eh. Also when working oversea they don't like it but they don't mind their own slang.
I think these words or expressions are a bad habit among Dalmatians, I never really hear people from Slavonia or Zagreb saying these things. They have other annoying habits though! ;D hahaha

sorry, midge (and sorry ghost), but it's quite obvious that ghost's english isn't one of a native speaker. her spoken language (i suppose) is a bit better, but written including grammar... quite poor. the mistakes.... terrible. but the vocabulary is relatively wide and it's obvious she's been living in (probably) the states and acquired some american english phrases and expressions. but she hasn't got a clue about the grammar.

I know some native speakers of both American and British English whose grammar and spelling are far worse than mine (and I'm not a native speaker).
I don't know whether Ghost was born in the USA or not, but it's obvious she's been living there for quite some time.
I mean the easiest way to tell that is by the phrases and sentence constructions she uses, plus correct use of prepositions.

We learn english in school or any language but I chose english. I do know a bit of german also from school.
I also learned alot of my english from americans. I have worked in the states many times. I also stayed with relatives in USA for short periods when I was in my early 20's and I still talk to relatives in America who correct my pronunciations. When my relatives come here they want to talk Croatian and I want to practice English it is a big fight everytime hahahhaa ;D
I do not really bother about how I type on this forum or I would be correcting all my posts for hours. Who has time. If I make a mistake in something while I am typing it... I fix it. If I go back and read it and see mistakes I don't bother it takes to long to fix things and I already spend to much time here.

Pretty good. Only I don't speak as well as I write. At least that is what I think. I often feel akward speaking when I have not spoken in English for a long time.

I mean the easiest way to tell that is by the phrases and sentence constructions she uses, plus correct use of prepositions. I have not lived in america for a long time but more than most Croatians because of the type of work I do. I stayed in America on many jobs from 1month to 1year in many places in USA and europe but mostly though along the west coast. California where alot of the work I do is needed for large companies. I also stayed with some family when I was in my 20's for almost a year and went to a small college course. Anyway enough about me. Midge you say you are Croatian..... I would have no idea you write just like an american or a brit. I would never say that you live in Croatia. Do you? No one can tell by someone's writing where they are from. Basically writing may give some signs but it is deceptive because you may have one person that writes perfectly because they were schooled longer than another but that person may give away that they are a foreigner as soon as they open their mouth. So how someone writes is not very accurate especially if the person is lazy and never corrects their mistakes. I think a bigger clue to where someone is coming from is what they think about things.....like politics, religion, food, just stuff like that.

Yeah I am Croatian. I've graduated in English and have lived in London for a while. Living in Zagreb now. Well writing can tell you a lot. Words one uses, phrases etc... even the mistakes one makes. I'm not talking about spelling mistakes here. Everybody makes spellling mistakes. What I had in mind was syntax and vocabulary.

Your liguistic ability is impressive Midge, clearly you are cognisant with the idiosynchrases and intricacies of this particular idiom. You do not knowingly split your infinitives. Prepositions are things you don't end sentences with. I've absolutely never ever seen you use redundancies. Double negatives for you are a definite no-no. Your use of articles be very good. I only wish I could do it in Hrvaski. Seriously, If pushed to decide, I'd would have thought you were a native UK English speaker.

Wonderfully awful, Ribaric. Unfortunately, there will be those who think you're the bees' knees, language-wise!
