I have the hardest time asking for specific cuts at the meat market, and I know that most markets keep their premium meats off display. Can anyone help me with the translation with the following:
Veal cutlets Veal chops Filet mignon or beef tenderlion pork tenderloin Pork - Baby back ribs Lamb chops

Veal cutlets and veal chops... I think the first is "teleæi kotleti" and the latter is srednji kotleti or "teleæi hrbat". To be sure, I can give you a description by which you can conclude yourself: kotleti are closer to the neck than hrbat. By the way, another word for kotlet is "kare" (carré).
Filet mignon you don't need to translate, we call it like that as well. If you need it in writing, write: "file minjon". If you need a description of it in Croatian, say "mali odresci goveðe pisane peèenke", but everyone knows what a "file minjon" is. Beef tenderloin = teleæi krmenadl. Pork tenderloin = svinjski krmenadl. Lamb chops are janjeæi kotleti.
For pork - baby back ribs I don't know. Pork = svinjetina, ribs = rebra...
This is complicated, but I hope it helps.

pork baby ribs are "prasecha rebrica" - svinja is pig, while prase is baby pork

when ever I notice this thread, the ozy in me can't help but think that the title refers to picking up women in a nightclub. d**n crude ozys have twisted my sophisticated British roots Somewhere on this board, someone had a link to a huge list of translated food stuffs in cro, eng and germ. I'll look around when I have the time and bring it to the front somewhere.
