www.itisnet.com/english/e-ce/e-croatia/e-croatia.htm Croatia General Info. Capital Zegrab Customs Tipping is uncommon except in fancy restaurants. ;D ;D ;D YOU CAN CHECK OUT THIS SITE. Tipping is uncommon as I said. Most expensive or fancy restaurants add a service charge to the meal so you don't have to tip. LIKE I SAID.....TIPPING IS YOUR CUSTOM NOT OURS! Foreigners and tourists tip. Guide books will tell you to tip but talk to the people that live here.... WE DON'T TIP. We are not cheap.... it is just not customary... maybe with time and the enflunence of immigrants then maybe we will start that custom.

Tipping is not a common thing in Croatia. Certainly not in the way that other cultures do it. It is common however to round up the bill, but you don't leave a tip on the table for the waiter and you don't seperately give them a tip in the hand. It's just not how it's done here, and anyone who actually really lived here would know that.

I round up the bill sometimes, most of my friends don't even do that. I suppose it all depends on how much money one is earning, or maybe not? But in general I would say that tipping is not very widespread here.

I tip, my Croatian wife tips all my Croatian friends tip. and that's it exactly, people who have partners from elsewhere or have experienced different cultures in any way may have picked up the custom of tipping in the way that we know it in the west. It is definately not something however that is widespread in the Croatian culture.. David, never noticed you here before. Do you really know Emiz? Is he like this in real life? I hope for your sake he isn't.

When you try posting something that you know is absolute truth and you get Emiz saying the crap that he says... I know that he has to be lying about living here and knowing Croatian peoples. As for this fake guest...friend of emiz... it is emiz... it is quite obvious that it is him.

But in general I would say that tipping is not very widespread here. Watch out Emiz is going to call you CHEAP. You are correct tipping is not widespread here foreigners are bringing this custom with them. Especially tipping in cafe or bar... that is a laugh to me. Like I said we just round up. Me and the friends are not exactly poor either, we do okay. so it does not have anything to do with your income.

I know for certain people tip, yet once again, we have to argue about the most basic things because of her info that she read on a website somewhere, come here and make a comment u/////2 Actually most websites say to tip.... obviously sites not written by Croatians. The fact is the majority of people that post here that do live in Croatia or are Croatian and have lived there are going to tell you the same things that I am posting. ;D So you can just keep ting on what I say but the truth is the truth! Your insistance on calling me U_._2 is quite silly. The moderator has tried adjusting this site so that you can not use this name but you insist on using this name....WHY? If the moderator believed that I was this person don't you think he would let u use that name. Why is this name blocked when you try using it? Also your insistance on calling me a (she) is funny too. You have no idea if I am a he or a she. I have made sure never to give away what gender I am. You seem to know all about me hahahahaa that is funny. ;D The reason I never gave away what gender I am is so people do not make judments on what I say based on what gender I am. People have a tendency to do that. I truly wish the moderator would personally email you or let you know in a post that there is only one Ghost(GhostWriter). That i am not anyone else you accuse me of being. If she does not o well, keep up your stupid behavier. Maybe I sound like some of the other people you accuse me of being because we all live in Croatia or are Croatian and we know what the hell we are talking about. I think everyone is tired of your behavier and they think it is not very useful to this site. I personally hope the moderator gives you an ear full maybe once and for all you will change your behavier!

He's right Emiz, sorry....most Croatians don't tip on a percentage basis with the calculator out like Americans do. Some of us do of course if the service is good. I always tip cab drivers if they are courteous, like say hello, put the bags in the truck and take them out when I arrive....the job is hard and the pay, after all tax costs, gas costs, etc. doesn't pay a lot. But if I get in a cab after a long, exhausting overseas trip and some jerk gives me attitude I don't tip and I explain why -- so no, we don't all take bad service. If it's bad, ask to see the manager and complain.
I was recently with foreign guests in "the" supposed best and certainly most expensive restaurant in Dubrovnik....and after a problem I asked to see the owner/manager and had it out with him in Croatian so as not to embarrass the foreign guests....at the end the individual told me "if you don't like it, izvolite van...." He lost more than one future customer, because that story has gone around a lot.
So the point is, if you feel you would like to tip if the service was good, it is most definitely appreciated but don't feel obligated just because you feel it is customary. There is no reason to tip for bad service.
Oliver Twist -- I agree, last time I was there with a friend, the waiter literally threw the drinks on the table, no "izvolite", didn't pour....so I said to him "so sorry to be imposing on you...." and we left no tip. Plain and simple, not rocket science.

Are you that desperate to prove your point that you have resorted to fake names? You really have a problem.
