American Woman, the organization I know of that takes donations to give poor (rural) families livestock is called the Heifer Project, www.heifer.org, and they're quite well known and legitimate. But I got a brochure from them that lists all of their active projects and none of them involve Croatia - some in rural parts of the US, some in Poland, Bulgaria, and other parts of central and eastern Europe, and very many in Africa. They will set up projects anywhere thta someone applies for a grant from them, I imagine - not everyone in rural Croatia is so poor that they need a goat to live, but there are quite a few people who do still live on small farms and have trouble making ends meet. And plenty of people in cities who do as well. I see as many beggars in Boston as in Zagreb, and more people sleeping on the streets. (I don't know what Zagreb does to keep people from sleeping on the streets, but I'm not sure I've seen many although many of the beggars during the day look like they probably are homeless....)

Unfortunately some beggars are professionals. That is their job. They will go home at night time to a home like you and I have.
Gypsy have been known to deform their children leg or arm to make more money begging. It is very sad people will stoop to this level. I saw a documentary on this. I did not believe my family in America who saw documentary and told me about. They sent me copy of documentary it was filmed in Romania, I could not believe it when I watch it. Disgusting.
I have never in my life seen in Croatia, someone sleeping in box. Only in America when on jobs there or vacation with family. I have seen that in many a big city. I have been almost everywhere in Croatia, I have never seen someone sleeping in street. I have seen some poverty in some villages but not sleeping outside in streets.

What she is saying to you kid is that Croatia and many many other countries have some social policies where US has none. Croatia does have alot of poor people but not many are homeless otherwise you would see them sleep in cardboard boxes and you dont. US is wealthy but that doesnt mean the citizens are as well. And sometimes Croatian people DO have more money than US, after they pay all the bills...whats the point of making $50k a year when after paying rent/mortgage/food/healthcare etc you are left with pennies. It's not how much you make, it's how much you can spend.

Croatia has almost no social care, do you know how much money, unemployed people get? Less than 100 pounds, nobody can live on that, if you are saying there are no people in Croatia living rough, you are doing a great disservice to the forgotten people of Croatia, who need help. Your points are about as valid as Tony Cascarino is Irish.

Also if you have not been working for six months, you are not entitled to any benefits.

Then tell us where all the homeless people living in boxes are in Croatia.
Since you can take a picture supposedly of a store in Croatia...stilll have not got that pic.
Then you can take a picture of a homeless person sleeping in the street.
If you have ever been to America than you would know that there are hundreds and hundreds of people in boxes lining the streets in certain area's of the city.
Los Angeles was shocking when down town there were hundreds of boxes with feet sticking out of them on a certain street and this was in winter when I saw this. New York in almost every Alley there were boxes with people sleeping on them or in them and walking around with carts with their possesions in it.
And what Tony said about Americans making $50k and not making it that is true.... I believe you call them the working poor. They make enough just to get by and then to go to work. A father of 4 making $50k in New York is barely making ends meet or not making them meet at all. Basiclee, Croatians are in the same boat. Alot are the working poor. People that are unemployeed in Croatia don't get yanked out of their home like they do in America. And at least here when one of us is not working we live together with our family and we do find ways of making ends meet. Many of us are working but as you would say in America under table. So unemploymet rate in croatia is different slightly than what statistics show. Here is not poverty like you see in many countries. Yes we are poor but we are not living in boxes or under bridge. But the other thing you have here is very rich. We have every person here, mostly 2 class though. Rich, and I guess you would say lower middle class(working poor).

Reading Comprehension is a important "skill" try to learn it instead of focusing on pimple popping, i said there are no homeless in Croatia, i didn't say there are no poor people. If this is how you interpret things than no wonder you can't get anything done in Cro and everything is pissing you off. People in Cro probably tell you "go left" than you go right and is surprised is you step in dog sh#t plus you blame the same people for directions.

What is the excuse now... you fell down and the camera broke I think the problem is that there are no pictures of that store posted on the internet so he can download it as his "evidence" like he does with online translators.

Culchie...My little friend. Dress in a loud T shirt, with your name on it. Then you, and your poodle, in front of my car. And don't think I have not done this before. Because I have. And I would do it again. Last time was a big buzz. Right. To the lady who started this yarn. Cats in Croatia. The Croats appear to think they are vermin. They adopt them as pets and then leg it and leave the cats. They breed. The Croats have this thing about tetanus and salmonella, as in cats spread it. The Croats are thick in this respect. And many others, to be honest. (Other than working for a living. Many of them don't, but do okay. Good luck eh). So they neglect them, the cats. Abuse them. Although some feed them, at the wheelie bins. I personally have taken in dozens. Seen dozens blinded by human scum who shoots them randomly. Big men eh. I have had cats shot dead on my property. Maimed, wounded. Seen dozens wiped out. Dozens. And there are a 'few' charities who try and help a little. I have helped, a little. Spent quite a few quid on it. Dogs. Slightly another story. I have seen few off the lead. But I have seen the odd one shot by the state, for being a nuisance. Although they do feature them, with names, for adoption in the newspapers. Dogs I have no time for. They are in your face for attention. Cats. They manage. Highly intelligent. But Culchie...seek me out. I am in Sibenik. Ask for me, the Englishman in Sibenik. You will find me. In front of my car, and don't forget the poodle. I wont miss you! I Promise.
