Test this and I assure you this is true. Whenever you pay with a credit card, cashiers in Croatia, be it at a store or in a petrol station, never ever check your signature. They always hand your card back to you as soon as they swipe it, I know signatures are hardly fool proof..but they should at least check them.

What's the point? If you had the card then you could easily approximate the signature. This smacks of "it seemed like a good idea at the time" although, as a merchant, I always did check in order to reduce the likelihood of customers denying they'd bought something. Mostly though we took numbers over the phone - what price the signature then?

When I use my Credit card. Some places charge me extra on my bill.
Does this ever happen to anyone else?

It usually only happens to people who do not ensure that any blank boxes beneath the bill total on the credit card slip are crossed out.
