I'm sorry but anybody that has lived in Zagreb all your life, was the weather in Zagreb ever good? I have been coming here for 5 or 6 years and I have lived here nearly 2, the weather has been rubbish, since I came here, short summers and long cold winters.

You certainly have a way of letting the weather cloud your vision. I've been here for the last year and 7 months and last summer was quite long and this one started pretty early, I didn't find the winter that long or that cold and this was my first ever european winter. Ok, this august was crap as I here it, but we've had good weather for the whole of sept. to this point and this minor cold wet spell we have now shall be gone in a few days and once again we shall have mostly good weather untill the end of October. What is perfect weather for you David? So far you've complained of the summer heat and the winter cold. Would perpetual autum suit you? If you took up snow boarding or skiing you would find the winter a lot more enjoyable. I'm thinking of inventing a winter paint ball type game where you dress all in white and colour the snowballs you make. When you get hit, it will be obvious. You could play in any forest.

I Ski, but I like to fly to a place I ski, perfect weather is 30 degrees everyday. I have had the heating on today. Last summer, I was working monday to friday and it rained nearly every weekend, the weather is the one reason I agreed to come here. I thought I'd put up with the cold for 3 months for great summers. It's not true, Winter has started, we wont have many really hot days from now.

David,
The kind of weather you are looking for can be found in the Caribbean. Lived there for 14 years (officially still do) and we had the most boring weather forecast in the world..........but it is a good one.
Everyday we have, minimum 28 degrees, maximum 35, local rainshowers (just to cover their ass in case it might rain), 3/8 cumulus clouds at 2500 feet, wind 090/110 15 to 25 kts.
We never had to hope for good weather during a BBQ, you could plan it years in advance. As long as you don't plan it between october - january (the 'official rain season', which means you may get a drop if you are lucky) you are basically fine.
One negative part..................there is not a lot of vegetation and you need airco in your car. For the rest..................perfect weather. It is just a pity that we have monkeys ruling that rock, so economically it is going nowhere and crime is out of control.
Here in Istria winter also kicked in Yesterday ! All of a sudden it was freezing cold, not my weather. And I also like skiing, but problem is that last winter it was cold, but not a lot of snow on the mountains in my neighborhood, made skiing very difficult. Ah well, perhaps this winter, still hope that Sarajevo will get loads of snow, want to ski there again.

it's so personal, a completely subjective matter.
i quite like the exchange of the seasons. i think i prefer that to a non-stopping summer. i would gladly agree to a bit shorter winters though.
what i would change is days becoming shorter. i hate the fact that during the winter i leave work when it's already completely dark. but you can't avoid that anywhere. one way or the other.
