..and I am nervous.
I only have 46 days to make up a reasonable excuse so that I don’t have to eat my mother in laws bakalar.

I thought you liked bakalar, or is it just your mother in law's version?

I thought you liked bakalar, or is it just your mother in law's version? It is vile, any version. I think they should force feed it to crinimals, the crime rates would drop.

The co/ckadoodledo at 4 am every morning, it makes me feel alive.
I almost forgot, sarma and bakala « Last Edit: Oct 26, 2005, 9:02pm by davidzg »

This will be my 5th xmas in a row in Croatia, I think I deserve a medal, and a break from bakalar.
I am going to start a petition "free David from bakalar" under the subtitle, give taste buds a chance, all those who think I should be freed sign below and I will give a copy to my mother in law.

It's no worse than the Christmas pudding in the UK. Vile stuff!

Christmas pudding is fantastic, especialy when it's been covered in brandy and set alight. David, I'm curious to know how many of those croatian christmas' have been white ones. I'm predicting it this year, because last year it wasn't and this year I won't be here. By the way, the cheapest flight i found zagreb-perth was 1190 euro malaysian airline booked through STA travel. It will be hard to do my act next year minus an arm and a leg.

Each to their own, I suppose. Mince pies are nice, but the pudding is a bit too much, thank you. BTW I am puzzled to see baklava finding its way onto Christmas shelves in the UK ??!!*''?!*??!* Anyway David, the solution to your problem is very simple. This year invite your in laws for a traditional english Christmas lunch prepared by yourself, crackers, Queen's speech and all. Just because you're in Croatia doesn't mean you have to folow Croatian traditions.

Hmm..white Xmas, I don't know by heart, but I can check, my mother in law has kept a record of Xmas day in Croatia going back 30 years or so. Regarding Christmas pud, I like it, and if it has a brandy sauce on, there is no way it can be compared to bakalar, that stuff should not be eaten.
