I'll be in australia for new years, but even if I was here I'd only work at that time of year if someone paid me a small fortune. It's freezing ! Hopefuly we'll have a circus themed new years event next year though. Indoors. New years eve is actually our wedding aniversary. Double celebrations for us.

noddy: you said your friends are "VERY" Catholic but they eat meat on fridays and Christmas Eve.
i wasn't judging them or saying they are bad people. but you qualified their Catholicism with the word "very". If your very something then your very traditional..pure etc.
thats like saying a jihadist running a 7/11 in america for the jihad, going to strip clubs, drinking, having sex etc is "very Muslim".
I don't think so.
I'm sure they are good Catholics. If they are very Catholic then what do you call a Catholic who goes to church every week, doesn't eat meat on fridays?
some of the best actors go to church three times a week too, by the way.

croam:
look, this is a subject i could write pages replying to.
i certainly disagree that "good catholicism" is defined by sticking to tradition.
now i've tried to find some info on the net. and it confirms what i said about ash wednesday and good friday. nowhere does it say that on christmas eve people should abstain from meat.
this really makes no sense.
and your comparison with muslims is completely irrelevant.

i said im sure your friends are good catholics. no doubt about that.
your using the words "good" and "very" interchangeably and they are two different words.
there's no way i would say someone is "very catholic" and eat meat on christmas eve. fridays i could understand, but Christmas Eve?
I live a "very healthy" lifestyle even though i eat whatever i want, don't exercise enough, and smoke cigs. ---doesn't work
Eating meat doesn't make anyone less of a catholic, or a bad person, but i would n't qualify with the word "very" unless they are "very" catholic, which means you follow the rules.
I personally don't follow the rules and could care less. I guess I'm arguing over semantics.
i didn't mean to insult you or your friends.

I am catholic - from a very devout family (I know the meaning of the word very, by the way). I have never heard of abstinence on Christmas Eve. Days of abstinence are Fridays - no meat, basically. Days of fasting and abstinence are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, marking the beginning and end of Jesus's 40 days in the desert. If people in Croatia and/ or Eastern Europe do this, then it something they have made up for themselves. Believe me, there is nothing that is decreed by the church that Irish Catholics don't do!

mediteranean catholics don't eat meat on christmas eve, and it's a tradition rather than a religious obligation... other catholics don't have that tradition, so the whole discussion is pointless

i just won't post anymore hows that?
you guys are funny. siding with a slovenian nationalist who does business in moscow zagreb and anywhere else but slovenia while telling everyone to go to slovenia to do business.
forget it.
I'm very Catholic too. I haven't been to confession in a long time though, go to church once a year to make my mom happy, and like sex.
P.S. Slovenian nationalist said "all croatians wank to .,.,.,.,.,.,. everyday but still consider themselves catholic". "they are all actors" blah blah blah.
but thanks for attacking the real jerk(me).

Stop throwing your toys out of the pram, he is not Slovenian, I know this guy, you repeat it over and over and it is not true. I think his point is thank god Slovenia is close by and he can behave like a normal businessman there.

to make you happy, i think pipistro is a jerk too. I read his initial posts before they got erased, and he said some stupid childish things about croatia. Since then though, he has said some things that all who live here know are true. I have to say that his writing style is somewhat familiar, reminds me of a few recent guests with stupid names, and one past member. However, your childish Slovenian taunts aren't really helping your situation croam. As you say though, who cares, it's just the internet.

yeah i guess i really made david angry insulting his boyfriend. my apologies dave.
and yeah he said what everyone knows is true and has repeated over and over again. nothing new at all. thanks pipistro for pointing out the glaring obvious.
everyone's true colors are coming out. its so beautiful like a rainbow. all i did was point out some facts about slovenia and i am accused of making "slovenian taunts" and "racism". hmmmn. my posts about slovenia were much more specific and clearly worded than pipistro's comments about croatia yet no one is attacking him.
thanks for the double standard. this guy is new to and look at all his friends jumping in to protect his childish rants.
true colors.

croam, just try to answer this question: if someone says something you don't agree with, wouldn't it be much more... well... constructive to give some information to back up your own opinion, and NOT attack the whole country and nation that has nothing to do with it (except that this person said it's better to do business there) ??

yeah i was constructive. i compared the convenience and pleasure of vacationing in Slovenia's prime tourist area and compared it to just about anywhere in croatia. Croatia is alot more alive, fun, and convenient.
umm... i mentioned the lack of war and how slovenians have superiority complex over croatia and the rest of former jugo. no one wants to touch the real issues. my friend is slovenian, but serbian descent and she has the same attitude. she thinks they are "european now".
i'm done now. sorry to disrupt everyone's "Walt Disney pseudo reality". time to put our heads back in the sand.
