Ahem..this is my thread So you saying you started this thread so you can 'have go' at other peoples positive opinions? Very negative. I am student and education system here seems very good. Good relationship between student-teacher. People are very freindly and excepting to me. Zagreb is very clean and green. I see all time them cleaning streets at 3 am. Very safe on streets, low crime. Never seen gangs of thugs, we have many in Poland. Over all very beautiful country. Zagreb has nice old world charm. I like the wine. I think croatian pizza is better than italian pizza and quite cheap. I like the bean soup on sleme. I like that there is skiing just behid city on sleme in winter. Did I say people is friendly? Good comunity atmosphere. People are helpful when I ask. Good understanding of english. Better than most european countries. Cafe life style suits me, I like flower square where parents let there kids race around playing without having to worry. I like those little 'vikendica' house that many of my friends family have. Very back to nature, and yummy bbq. People have good attitude for making best of situation even when they have not so money. Allways can have a good time. Movies and tv not overdubbed like many EU countries. I like all the hiden court yards behind building in middle of city, some like stepping into country side strate off busy street. Most of all I think it is I just have very good feeling here. Specialy today as sun is shining and birds singing and little warm, feels like spring. The relationship between professor and pupils good? that depends, Professors in Croatia are the next step down from god, they can fail you because they feel like it. Regarding polite people, you must be joking, I do not know where you all come from, but if you think people in Zagreb are polite, you must have low standards. Apart from that, you made the best points so far.

Having just read the whole thread, it seems to me only Croam came anywhere near explaining what it is about Croatia he loves.
Glen I have accused you of bias, given your vocation so I read your posts carefully, you my friend are clutching at straws, I see a list of random things and a lot of them are rubbish, smelly trams? wtf?
I guess why you all love Croatia so much is unexplainable, my wife has often said, it is just a feeling she has, which I can understand as it is her home, but foreigners should be able to give quantitative and qualitative reasons why they prefer Croatia.
I still remain convinced that the only people who should move to Croatia are retired people who want to spend the summer on the coast.

Some people will never be satisfied. Here we have listed all the reasons we like this place so much, and still that's not good enough it seems. I echoed the sentiments that everyone else had listed, especially the post by aga previous to my own, I agree with it all apart from the croatian music one that mark listed. That's a lot of of positive points. A lot. None of us have to justify ourselves to someone who won't believe we can enjoy the place that much purely because he is blinded by his own negativity. It's been said before. If you don't like it, leave it !

I am seriously interested. Your reason was Kulen, wtf? Is this play school? I have more arguments with Croam than anybody, so I have shown I can be objective, something you struggle with. He actually gave reasonable answers that made sense, bob made a couple of reasonable stabs, low crime rate etc, but the rest of it was drivel, it seems to me that many others pretend they like it more than they do.

David, how can someone that puts forward their opinions be "clutching at straws"?
Once again, get back on track, and stop "marking" people's answers.

David, how can someone that puts forward their opinions be "clutching at straws"? Once again, get back on track, and stop "marking" people's answers. You know how..when his opinion is not actually an opinion but a subjective point somebody wants to prove as it benefits that person. To do so by saying, I want to live in Croatia because they beat Germany 3-0 in 1998 or to hear the words laku noc, or because of smelly trams is not a point. It is rubbish. This is exactly my point it has nothing to do with opinions in most cases, but subjective people spouting half truths, untruths or nonsense.

David, you've forgotten how to read. What is the point in me writing all the things that had already been written? I could do it if you really want, but you are really not worth the effort. It is now plainly clear that you have no idea how to enjoy life. Life is for living and finding as much enjoyment in it as possible. All the things that people have listed here are ligitimate reasons for enjoying life here. If you don't agree with them, mores the pity for you. You just go ahead and gauge your enjoyment of life by Business and politics. Have fun.

Nothing is plainly clear, I do enjoy my life, I just know that most of what is written on here is rubbish, either subjective or hippy tree hugging nonsense. You love Croatia because you don't work there, live and work and live the life of most Croats, who you obviously don't care about as they don't effect you. It saddens me when I see 4 year olds eating from a bin., and people like you denying their existence. By refusing to publicly admit the truth, although I am sure you do over a few beers, just like everybody else I have met in Zagreb. I actually started this thread to see if I was in blinkers, to see if there is something some of you can see that most of the expats can't, clearly there isn't.

I never denied that people eat from bins, although I have never seen a 4 year old doing it. Unfortunately that is something that happens the world over, even in your beloved Britain. Shock horror, how could that be in such a rich country? I do care for croatian people, that's why I'm helping to create a viable industry for some of them that will eventualy see them earning a lot more money from their skills than they do now. In the process it will also add significanlty to croatias touristic offer. There's another thread where you can tell us what you're doing.
