Who Wants To Start A New Board?

Okay, come on ladies and gentlemen, who will be brave enough to start a new board?

I (and I'm definitely not the only one) am fed up with what this board has turned into. As I've said so many times before, this only ever started off as a travel board.

(In fact, this is the the fourth reincarnation of the travel forum. If memory serves me correct, there has been a forum for at least 6 years, how many of you were around then? I eventually decided that perhaps people wanted to discuss a bit of politics too, and added the Debate and Discussion Forum. Then the Off Topic board followed, and what a mistake that was!

Now many (well, about three ;D) are complaining that this place is boring, and that you're not allowed to express yourselves properly etc etc etc. If the best way that you can express yourselves is through slanging matches and petty insults, I pity you greatly. It may be funny for you, but it's rather boring for the rest of us.

Now I read that some will decamp elsewhere, but you can't find anywhere to go. So why not start your own board? I wouldn't be moderator, you can express yourselves however you want, you can partake in whatever discussions you want...it sounds like a dream, doesn't it? ;D

I'll even help with whatever tips you need. So come on, who will be the brave soul to take me up on my suggestion?

nah....i need to look for work anyway. spending time on message boards has been a great way to procrastinate the last year while in school. Thanks alot for hosting this board Anna! I know i may have said a few things but they were in jest. I didn't mean anything negative towards you.

I just don't understand why you are so intolerant now compared to this time last year. I guess your just tired of deleting posts. You used to edit them. I guess your friends who advertize on here got pissed off. Oh well. I understand business. I just got used to it being one way.

Thanks for the last year of fun and escapism. I have to get back to reality.

I'll pop in from time to time to read but I'm not responding to others posts anymore and i may post the occasionally useful bit of information from time to time which is more than most people on here can say.

but Anna can't you just turn it back into a Travel board then? Or once created is that how it stays? I could help out a bit if you wanted, but only when I'm at work!

Anna believe it or not YOU are an essential ingredient.

Half the entertainment is to see how favouritist you will get.
I do appreciate you, but I get a feeling you dont like me or that you dont like any 'alternate' opinions on here.

Like everything though, things evolve. You can say that you had an unsucessful travel forum, and now you have a lively debate and discussion forum with info and chat.

You have to think of the number of unique users, the hits and the content that brings people back. This is the key.

If you studied IT you should know that.

The big mistake is allowing this psuedo advertising and bias. You should have an area that is specific for them. They can use that and claim anything they like... sun, rain, happy homes etc etc

Here are a selection of the PMs I have. I have a whole load more, and I have deleted many others. Now you say its a minority that doesnt like the debates? These are ALL from my so-called opponents. I have more including PMS from Jan, who is the most neutral and considerate person on VisitCro.

Clearly we're at loggerheads over the moderating of this board and certain people do not like how I run it. I see no alternative but for those to go and create their own board where they can talk about whatever to their hearts' content. Best of luck.

This forum, for the foreseeable future, will revert back to a travel forum ONLY.

I know administrator and he is willing to take suggestion for site direction. You can post what you like there with no editing by admin. If you all go there it would be good for you but if only 1 or 2 it could be boring.

You could add a chatroom to the site for banter and chit-chat.
At least it'll cut down on the endless posts - which waste server space (somehow this must be bad for the environment, but I can't think how...)

I know it didn't really take off on "Croats in the UK" but I know it got used (and still does occasionally)...
...plus it'd probably get more use on this forum.

split the forum into two - one site just for travel to Croatia and everything else on the other site.

Because I think "certain" posters on these boards don't want a private chatroom, (they can use PMs, email, MSN...) they want an audience. Problem is, no one cares.

Splitting the forum into two, I think, is a good idea. Travel (plus Property + Living) and then another for the rest, but I don't want any part in moderating the other one.

Yes, I know it look crap to your eye now but in start it was parody of this site and quite funny at time.
Now the guy who made joke says he can an will change site to how you might want it and people who want just to have fun on forum can go there and discuss anything they want without being edited or branded.
Just takes few people to start posting there and then off it goes.

That should be fun !

If you want to see how that looks like then I can direct you to a Dutch Croatia forum. Approximately once or twice a week you will see the question: 'how to drive to Croatia' and then there are the questions: 'I am going for my first time to Croatia, which camping should I go to' or 'What is the status of the toilets on Camping Lanterna or camping xxxx', 'where can I find the cheapest supermarket', etc.

This site was luckily not like that, but I see that this dutch site is regarded as the higher goal.............

ah well, one is never too old to be amazed.
