Really good things - Dundee United (always good for a laugh), any white pudding supper from Fife or further north, looking at a 2 mile stretch of 3 inch deep freezing water and imagining I'm on the rocks in Rabac .......... can't make up my mind where I'd rather be!

The UK is almost perfect country for me, everytime I fly back, I want to do the Pope thing, and kiss the ground.

Am with you on that one 100%, I had the exact same association the last time I visited London! Hey, if some EU countries are giving away citizenship šakom i kapom, that is left and right - how about Britain gives me British citizenship? Afterall, I was conceived there ( ;D have witnesses) and I already love the country more than an average Brit does, I dare say!

Could you guys list some reasons why you like it there so much. I'd like to know because on my visits I just don't get it, and I am British(by blood).

With me this is on a completely subjective level (rather than finding objective reasons why life in Britain is better) - in short, and it's not like I crave to sound all gooey and pigtail and corny, but I'm completely in love with that country. It's really not 'the grass is always greener on the other side' complex (although the grass in England is indeed greener than the one we have here. Never mind.) and for me it's not even about the better economical, political, etc. situation, although for some that would be reason good enough... Personally I find it a truly beautiful country and I love its (multi)culture. I've always had a thing for London in particular, it "IS ALL THAT" (fig.), the most interesting and buzzing place to be IMO... I'd love to be able to go to the National Gallery or Tate Modern whenever I felt like it, or see every single play in Her Majesty's Theatre and The Globe (amongst others), or roam those wonderful streets in West End, Primrose Hill, by the Thames etc., and what's more I really like the overall atmosphere and the people. I feel much more relaxed and comfortable there (but that's just me). Anyway, "He who is tired of London is tired of life." (Samuel Johnson) Erm...that is all well and good, but real life has more to it than visiting the theatre. Are you aware of the current levels of crime in London, as well as the costs of living that are getting to astronomical levels? Trust me, after few years of actually living in this "wonderful" city, you will be eagerly planning your escape. I agree that England is indeed beautiful, but London is awful.

Atavus, you are very funny..... Goats and chickens, WTF??
I have already made my money, but won't be moving back to Croatia. My destination is the Bahamas. One life to live, so many places to enjoy.

in my experience london is hostile, a bit smelly, cold and rude, hideously expensive and unrepresentative of the uk in general but then I live in manchester and hope that barcelona give chelsea a pasting tomorrow

oh and another favourite thing about the uk,..... the british people, a tribute to their country, great sense of pathos and humour, their sense of fair play,....cricket.... what other race could make up a game that lasts five days, neither side win yet has a gripping finale stopped by rain... the ashes last test won back by england after 18 or so years. brilliant

cold and smelly, are you sure you're not describing Manchester Steven? My goodness, London is the navel of the world, with greater accessibility to culture and sport (if you're a tourist even moreso) and there are very few other cities in the world where you can go out every night of the year and never see the same movie or play twice, all within walking distance of one another!

there arent that many good movies that i'd want to stay there long enough to see them, to be honest i've never gone there on a recreational, its allways to do some work, generaly i stay just off brick lane which in my humble opinion is not in the same league as the curry mile in rusholme manchester, naval is not the part of the human anotomy that comes to mind when i think of london, more like the arm pit, whereas if you want to see a great football match where better then old trafford or even anfield (ooh that hurt me to say), give me the smiths over the pet shop boys any day of the week, if you want real culture come up north sunshine
