I do not know Alan Moore. I received an email from him an hour ago in which he told me that he normally will have something within my price range. Should I know him?

He is a famous Irish sportsman so I just thought maybe you knew him through your visits to knin as he has been on the telly too. He plays rugby there... Who needs a publicity agent when you have the forum huh?? I charge commission....... ;D Hope it works out.......

I did not read Carol's book, but I respect her opinion very much and I am sure you will find the book an excellent and reliable source .

Polako et al, POLAKO ;D I have been contacted by Nico and have replied, there's nothing conspiratorial, he does seem to know people in the area (at least from the tourist level - which is the basic intro). Knin is well explored by property buyers though like any non-coastal place it is still in it's infancy. In the same way as spots on the coast are not well regarded or undervalued (I won't name any in case noses go out of joint in misunderstanding what I've just said is actually a sales pitch for them ) it's an area that people who've been there or have connections there will look deeper into. Unfortunately some of the same old horror stories occur and our property guys now simply give an estimate along correct guidelines and if the owner is happy then we sell it, if they think it's undervalued then they are free to advertise it themselves but anything over 10% of real value isn't worth the hassle. And before anyone says - why 10%, it's to allow a) wiggle room, b) inflation (properties might be on the books for a year or more, and only after the 18month rule there is a 2nd appraisal done - in more vibrant economies it can be quarterly. Also 10% of a 10k property is also an acceptable amount (according to KPMG who have performed due diligence on a number of spots for us) as final sale price on average is 13% below real sale value. Anyway, Polako, thank you for exposing me further and very soon our club will be announcing their season fixtures!

Much appreciated Polako :-) A ver pleasant and nice thing for you to do! And you now have to get down and visit us some time! take in a match day and get to meet our lovely Mayoress, if things keep going the way they are she'll be enjoying porridge soon (for some reason I can see her becoming head tough person on the inside!).
As for Gary, I don't understand what he's on about (maybe that's nothing new, but his post doesn't make sense). I read what he put up but I don't know what he means (probably too much lozica the night before :-) )

Irac, thanks for the invite. If you could please put up the club's fixtures for 2009 in dalmatia in doug's recent thread that would be helpful, as won't be able to get to Dalmatia until spring 2009.
Never been to a rugby game........

Polako I'll them up a little later today. I'm still in the dark over pre-season games, but I'll put them up as we go along! Hopefully next year (2009) we'll have another St. Patrick's Day game between Dalmatia and a Barbarians side. we've decided not to run the gauntlet of the Croatian Union again and let them stab each other a la Caesar and co, while we get on with the business of developing the sport.
I'm just afraid you'll remain a rugby virgin, as what we play barely passes for the sport :-0

No slatkica, the only people who I have met before they came on the board are panason and felicia. They are my friends........ other friends in Istria/UK have not joined the board. But I did chat with a couple at the airport who mentioned that they read the board but they too have not joined. As for me I am just having silly banter...... I shall stop....whoops I actually have to do some work now.....

centarnekretnine is a more widely used portal these days in croatia. The problem with realestatecroatia is that when you want to know about a property, the portal wants money from the agency before it will pass the users question on. I don't know what other agencies do, but I for one am not very keen on paying money to be asked a question by Donald Duck about a house for $1 next door to Goofy! Portals are only as good as the info on them and i suspect realestatecroatia might have some out of date info. I see so many wrong information on this forum and think that somebody should take care of it.If you like an agency pay a fee to the portal than you will have all information from the buyer but if you don't pay than you will see just text without contact information.

I paid. It was a great way to waste money, not to mention the effort of uploading the properties so I canceled. Every so often we get an email asking for money in return fro one person's contact details and I personally just ignore it, although I think some of my team send a reply saying no thanks.
We stopped using centarnekretnine too but mainly because the local market had dried up, not because it didn't work when people were buying.

Following from my post above, has anyone noticed how often you sometimes have to tell offices in Croatia, that you've canceled the service, changed address, they have the wrong phone number etc? Getting people to update their customer records is like banging your head against a brick wall!

Polako, getting into a srcum is okay, it's getting caught at the bottom of a ruck that's the problem :-)
I agree with Carol that the portal previously mentioned realestate has not changed for the good, while centarnekretnine doesn't work so well in a poor market.
Carol, I have 2 gripes with poor service and stupidity in ex-commie Europe. My phone is still wrong - I'm called by my reverse 2 christian names, no family name, nothing! I have written 4 times in 5 years to have this changed, each time the bill comes again the same. When I say written, I mean I've already filled in all the forms to change, and then finally wrote to the Minister of Commnications and received a thank you and it will be changed now, but each time nothing!!!!
Also for 4 years I fought HEP, took them to court and badgered them to change not only the name on my account, but also that the debts owned (and supposedly settled - stamped paid by HEP) from the previous owner/squatter was unpaid. Apparently in 3 years I was using the equivalent of a 20person work office each week! And oddly I was still using electricity when the supply was turned off when finally I got them to change the name. Subsequently (more than a year later) they found a cable leading from the house............to a broken street lamp that didn't work but used electricity. Now we're back in court trying to get back the money paid that wasn't used by me.
