If I could please take a moment to talk about something not really to do with Croatia, but to do with computers, magazines and...ahem...us...(for those that might be interested): Europe's first computer magazine, Personal Computer World, has sadly come to the end of its life. Some of you may know that my father, Angelo, was the founding publisher of the magazine. We were quite saddened to hear about the magazine ceasing publication, but were very proud of its 31-year run. More about PCW and its demise: Personal Computer World magazine: 1978-2009 An Obituary (a good history of the magazine) Personal Computer World magazine to close (from the Guardian)

31 years? That's both sad and impressive. Personally, I'm surprised that there are still paper-based computer magazines left. Didn't know that was your dad, but now that I'm aware of that - kudos to him. ;D .

Cheers Justapixel. You do make a good point, 31 years isn't bad especially given the way so many magazines are going these days. I'm sure more and more titles will close in the future.

If I could please take a moment to talk about something not really to do with Croatia, ............ ............. Not really to do? It's got b all to do with Croatia, Anna (but it's your site so we'll let you off) But as someone who, perhaps rather unwisely, shunned computer development from c 1970 until everyone began to have one c 1990, the historic review is educational, and quite moving. (Guardian piece is very short and lacking detail.) Anna, your father sounds an entrepreneurial man who can be very proud of taking what must have been a huge step - both in energy and financial terms - in founding the magazine back then, and its subsequent success. Congratulations Mr Zgorelec - all the more so if, as I assume, you were a Croatian immigrant whose mother tongue was not English. Kesterj
