In connection with the 35% Sales Tax (for private houses), does anyone have sound legal advice as to when the 3-year exemption period actually starts ~ date of contract (unlikely!); date of Letter of Permission from Ministry; or, date of entry in Land Register (Kataster). Thanks in advance for any help.

All I can tell you is that we were told a few years ago by our lawyer that tax relates to when the contract is signed as it is not your fault it takes years for Ministry approval to come through. I hope this helps. A decent lawyer should be able to answer for sure.

If you are a foreigner and the house is your residence are you exempt from this tax?
