Well, nobody told me about the mid-week games. Grrrrrrrr
Oh well, here goes..........if I can just score a 4 I hope my lead may stay intact.
going evern more off topic - do they still do the pools in the UK on Saturdays? I mean, it was an integral part of UK life, surely, listening to the results at 17.00 ............waiting for the draws etc.
But with all the games higgledy-piggledy, from 12.45 on Saturday to Monday 19.45..........what do they do?
OK, here's my final selection of the season.
Sunday, 9 May 2010 Arsenal v Fulham - Home Win Aston Villa v Blackburn - DRAW Bolton v Birmingham - DRAW Burnley v Tottenham - AWAY Chelsea v Wigan - HOME Everton v Portsmouth - HOME Hull v Liverpool - HOME Man Utd v Stoke - HOME West Ham v Man City - DRAW Wolverhampton v Sunderland - AWAY

So I did win! Ha, I daren't actually look in and work it out myself. (it#s true!) Thank you kindly, chaps. (I'm savouring that beer already, Nick ) It really was quite close, wasn't it? Well, madgolfer was a bit of a laggard, but then, what can you expect from a Spurs fan Mind you, wish my team were in Spur's place at the end. Sorry that Downing has not been picked for W Cup, upv. Sorry we lost McCaps so early on in the season too. I wonder who will come up. I rather like the idea of Blackpool, but I thought forest definitely outplayed them on Saturday, despite the result. see you all next seaon, I trust. Till then, don't sit in the sun for too long. kesterj ps UPV - has anyone ever got all 10 games correctly predicted?

No, Kes, nobody has yet scored a perfect 10, a few 8s and one or two 9s is the best,
yep, no downing or ashely young for the world cup, ashley young could have done well there, but he has gone for s w phillips insted. Milner made the team and he was by far our best player of the season,He will do brilliant in SA. Warnock, a bit o a suprise, but sure its just a cover and he will only come on from the bench
Heskey ? why oh why oh why. There are only 2 people in the entire country who think he is any good MON and Capello. He is awful, crap, rubbish, and he is not even a has been, he is a Nearly has been.
If we would have a better striker this season we would have done a lot better. When Heskey comes on , i know its over and we are not going to score. The one thing MON has to do this summer is SELL Heskey.
World cup competion anyone ?

I know Downing personally, he's a cracking bloke and in my opinion a fantastic player... albeit I fully expect him to make the move into centre midfield at some point... that said he's had a fairly mediocre season and has previously underperformed for England so he can have no complaints.
It must hurt him that his understudy for many years at Middlesbrough (Johnson) has leap frogged him into the reckoning.
I think Young's undoing is the balance of the team. Cappelo seems intent on playing Gerrard on the left... so his understudy doesn't have to be the quickest, but somebody who can play narrow, find a pass, score goals and retain possession, step foward Milner... he's had a fantastic season.
That's the only reason I think he'll take J. Cole who wasn't even expected to make the 30... Cole can play that left sided narrow role and Gerrard can move inside if Lampard is injured.
We'll only take 8 midfielders... so I expect ,SWP, Johnson, Parker amd Huddlestone to miss out if Barry is fit.
I expect the squad to be 3 keepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and 4 strikers, personally I'd sacrifice a defender and take Darren Bent.
My predicted world cup squad.
GK: 1. Green, 2. James,3. Hart
Defenders: 4. Johnson 5. Cole 6. Terry 7. Ferdinand 8. Carragher. 9. Upson. 10 King 11.Baines
Midfielders: 12. Lennon 13. Gerrard 14. Lampard 15. Barry* 16. Walcott 17. Milner. 18 Carrick 19. J.Cole **
Strikers 20. Rooney 21. Crouch. 22. Heskey 23. Defoe
* if not fit he'll take Huddlestone ** I have a horrible feeling he'll take SWP instead of J.Cole.
He should definitely take Bent ahead of Heskey, but we all know he won't.
I think we'll make the quarter finals then get beat by Spain, Brazil... Italy...Argentina... the usual drill.
Brazil who have the most boring Brazillian team of all time, are my favourites to win it. They're nowhere near as talented as Spain but their defensive unit is top class and with Kaka and Fabiano on top they'll pick teams off with 1-0 wins each time.
England's starting team will be...
...........................................Green
Johnson...............Terry......................Ferdinand........................Cole
......................Lampard.............................Barry .........................................................................Gerrard
Lennon*
...............................Rooney..............Heskey**
*Possibly Walcott ** Possibly Crouch
Personally I'd play...
..............................................Hart
Johnson............Terry........................Ferdinand...............Cole
.....................................Carrick
................Gerrard............................Lampard
Walcott............................................................................Milner
..........................................Rooney

I'd rather tell him to get cat aids ;D ;D All the money Sunderland spent and they still had a poor season... oddly...Villa have recently inquired about Bent and we're told any deal must include Downing so don't rule it out.
