if someone can give me a estimate of what a dinar bought in the late 1970's it will settle a family argument. any example will do like how many dinar it cost to buy the daily newspaper or a new shirt.

Well, in (very) late 70's, a cup of coffee in a coffee bar would cost between 8 - 10 dinars. Local (not international) postcard stamp in 1979 was 1.50 dinars and the letter stamp was 2.00 dinars (same year).
