Hello friends,
it has been a while since I was on the boards, bt a nice change took place in the meanwhile.
last Spring, everything seemed OK that I was going to buy a nice stone house in Knin. Everything was arranged, but the week before we would sign, the owner sold it before our nose to another croat. No money was lost, so it was no major disaster.
But the search went on.
Untill this month. Since the 15 October, I'm the proud owner of a nice house with garden in the region around Zagreb: magnificient views, relatively cheap, strongly build with quality materials, one owner, clean papers,.... And, in contradiction to some others, it was not a labyrint of papers and regulations. Everything went as a whistle.
But, i must admit that it was only to the help of 1 man that everything went soo smooth. I want to thank Keith Pearce of InlandCroatia for his nice and good help. Without him it wouldn't be this easy for us to get all the necessary papers and contacts. I want to recommend him to everyone who is interested in buying a property in the inland of Croatia. Go with him and you will not be disappointed!
Nico.

Thank you Nico, it is always very nice to hear from a satisfied client and especially so publicly.
There were a number of other people involved behind the scenes as you know, so I will pass your comments on to them as well.
Our warm regards to your family.
Keith and Michele.

Welcome nico to the best kept secret in Hrvatska. Please keep your views to yourself otherwise thousands of foreigners will come charging into our northern enclave. We don't need a new ghetto. Ditto re: Keith and Michelle at inlandcroatia. Straight people, good people ... even if Keith does talk like a used car salesman!

Everything was arranged, but the week before we would sign, the owner sold it before our nose to another croat . /quote] Hehehe , look at my recent experience : we spotted a reasonable "bargain" ( are there ever any , real estate-wise ? ) in UNESCO-protected , historic Bruges centre ; the hundreds-of-years-old house near the canals was sad , neglected and empty ..albeit : spacious enough to warrant a "buy to let" i.e. help us get out of lousy sterling and worse-still $$$...or even reside therein , when fixed-up , one of these days ? So : after about ten trips of 100km+ each way , various inspections , meetings with builders and renovators , obtaining 3 reliable written quotes etc...we were ready to put the 10% deposit down and sign the enforcible purchase contract ( Compromis de Vente ) ; except that the Porsche-driving estate agent teamed up with one of the 3 builders who quoted on renovations , and so they jointly bought the dump , literally : a few hours before we could get to signing for it ! Better Luck , next time ( or : in another country , who knows ? ) ?
