"I know you don't expect an answer, but as a tip.....there was an article about Croatian mentality, about the obsession with money. That is also the driving factor for calling inspectors, because it cannot be that you just arrive and have a better life than someone who has been here all his life. They want to profit from your success and if they can't............they will call the inspectors. "
I totaly agree with this. And not only will they call the inspectors... I moved here in my 20s...and my peer group did all they could to give me a bad image infornt of girls usually..and they definately went out of their way to keep me away from the local girls. even resorting to bringing up the story of how convicts with ball and chains were sent to australia...especially when a good looking girls was next to me.

imo, reporting to inspectors occurs more at the seaside, because almost everyone is in tourism or tourism related business, so everyone is your direct competition. but obviously there are also people that have nothing to do in life, and then in effort to feel important or powerful they will start messing with you. in inland croatia, suing neighbour for meter of land is popular poiter, if peers try to impose you bad image, that doesn't mean girls will take their opinion seriously or give any value to it. they ain't stupid, girls know those guys are moth*rfkn suckers.. and if you don't get affected by those guys behaviour and don't get emotional about it, everything will be fine. pay attention to them like to mosquitos.. in such situations trying to prove yourself, or start arguing is not productive. and in the end, you have no obligation to even say "hello" to them. life is short, why waste it on/with wrong people

i agree with u pinkfloyd. im married now... but funny thing is the girls often went all quiet and did lose interest in me after seeing how they(male peers) had no respect towards me. anyway...i try to avoid people like that now. which is pretty difficult cos theres so many of them...and its very difficult to trust people with your problems etc... thats one thing seriously you cant do in croatia...ask someone for advice or admit to having a problem of any kind...like fitting in to your new socitey...or with money, job, etc... its sucide. ...and i always thought that thats wht friends were for.

Re Inspectors Please note that there is spell check onthis forum . Any more miss spellings and you wil be reported to the miss spelling inspectors. There is also an icon inspector, so no naughty stuff ok . A Smilies inspector comes here once a week, so no more that 3 at a time.

Returning to the original thread....
Having spent the last few weeks looking into the campsite question here in Vrbovec it was pretty straight forward.
The law relating to tourism has a complete section dedicated to this subject (approx 30 pages) and sets out the requirements that need to be met.
A 30 min visit to our local planning office found the correct office and person "responsible" for this this type of "rural" tourism business.
Their suggestion was that once a suitable site has been identified, that meets the basic legal and planning requirements, we should take in a copy of the katastar plan to discuss the feasibility with the planning officer and to get their input as to its suitability.
Then if a particular site appears to meet the requirements, a site visit could be arranged to assess the practicalities before proceeding to a full planning application or buying any property.
OK it may be somewhat different at the coast, but in this area it seems that the basic up front work is fairly straightforward.
