For Mambo The easiest thing to do and to stop any doubt simple call into the public notary, tell them your company name and ask them do you need to do anything. I have double checked for a few clienst this way, it takes them 20 secounds on the computer, and i have not been charged

why would you have to go as a business customer to the legislation office? If you are doing something on behalf of your business, you can just sign it and stamp it. Can't you?
The only exception I can think of is sell property. Is this what they are doing when you clients use the legislation office UV?

I stopped by 2 notary offices today in Porec............got 2 different answers !!!!
One notary indeed said that we had to re-register because we have 2 directors. the other one said we did not because we had only 1 owner (100 %) and the directors are just employees.
Great !!
How I love this horrible country.

I guess its all down to interpretation by the staff at MK and the language used by the client. They are private people in the UK and they are acting on behalf of their company in Croatia in a private capacity. How this has been expressed, i don't know, The ones who have said it correctly and not had to deal with an MK jobs worth have completed the apostle in 1- 2 hours

I've also done my company paperwork today - the notary said that she had been told that part of the reason this re-registration is being asked for is to add the OIB to each shareholder's record.
Also, the original quote was for 1500 which included an additional 200kn to 'translate' the paperwork. When I queried the legal requirement for this it went away. By the way, notary was very happy with herself .... must be all that cash in her pocket !!!

I was told that I needed the signature of an official court translator to testify that I understood what I was signing. She spent 5 minutes and charged me 400 Kn '!!! The notar was "only" 1500 - sigh - and he made me know that it was a special low price for me. I love Croatia.

madgolfer... funny enough I was just thinking the very same thing, that they already have a letter to every company ready to go on Tuesday with that fine, and see how many dumb folks pay up. AT least I have the paper to hand that I did my part.
It does happen. I got like 3 reminders from Zagreb Holding for an event I did, even though I paid in full a month earlier, even sent them the bank statement. First letter asking me to pay by such a date, second you better pay by this new date and final letter saying they where going to take it to court if I didn't pay. So, what did I have to do... call around, find the office, the accountant, talk to the person organising the space and so forth (like another day of work) to straighten it out. Finally they sent me a bill for zero Kuna (was wondering how to pay that one?) A similar thing happened when I got a parking ticket in Zagreb all because the idiot attendant didn't see the paid ticket on my dash. He just slapped a 300 Kuna fine on my window and walked off. So, I then had to go to the parking place (waste another hour) and work it out. Problem was no apology for wasting my time, just, oh, rip it up and you'll be fine. Next time I’m going to bill Zagreb Parking for my time (estimated at about 600 Kuna an hour). That Zagreb Parking really needs soemone to stand up against them and ring them through the mud. Problem is it's owned by city hall, and you can't fight city hall and live to tell the tail.

CJ, I know exactly what you mean. I recently had a letter from the tax office asking me to explain why my company turnover (aka tax payments) had been going down since 2008. ;D Having called them by telephone to explain that there was currently the small matter of a world wide recession in progress, the next letter informed me that if I did not visit their office to explain.......guess what.....I would be fined. LOL LOL LOL LOL. So I had to take half a day off work to go sit in front of some spotty faced kid with no idea about business whatsoever, probably straight out of Zagreb business college, and explain why the real estate business has slowed down over the last 2 years. "And when do I expect it to end?" I kid you not, that was his question........like I have a crystal ball in my back pocket and could predict the end of the world recession .....unbeleivebale! ;D It was pretty obvious that they were looking into companies that have always paid "X" amount of tax, and paid it on time, that were now paying less. You can almost hear their minds turning over....... "Must be something doggy going on"The complete lack of business understanding in this country defies belief sometimes.

( "And when do I expect it to end? " ) and whats the answer. ? MG ? Its just i was planning a few days off and I didnt want to miss the start of the recovery. Maybe Ribaric donkey knows, did you inform them of his amazing predictiaon capabilities, now that paul the octopus is dead, there could be an opening there I have in my diary May 3rd, 2012 at 4.27 pm, It all start again then and there will be at least 6 sales that day each for all real estate agents. But if you know different just let me know,

So typical. Shoot first then ask questions later. I had an audit once in UK, sent in my own books (mind you) and everyone satisfied. Here's it's sad but true that your guilty to proven otherwise. Even this recent law shows pure contempt of the business community by the government. They just pass their laws, give you 30 day notice then expect you to pay up or get fined (and they will), while they on the other hand tell us in the business community they can't pay back taxes or pdv, so just offer it as credit towards future tax bill.

Can anyone tell me what the fine is for not complying in time.
The notary told us it would be 5000kuna and that would give us another 50 days before we got a further 'punishment'. He has just emailed now saying we have only got untill Tuesday 2nd November.
