Hi there,
Has was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for companies that will measure and fit a custom kitchen in an old stone house in the Split / Kastela area? Im looking for a custom solution ideally as off the shelf kitchens wont make the best use of space. Rather than ordering somewhere and waiting 3 months for the wood to be cut Id rather have a carpenter or someone with experience of custom kitchens come in and do the job.
Also looking for a reasonable cost as this will be a holiday rental. Not looking for a 10k kitchen.
Another option is to ship a decent quality kitchen from the UK. SO Im also looking at option of shipping the kitchen perhaps in a crate or on an HGV to Croatia. Not sure if anyone has experience of this or would like to share a shipping crate? Not sure if the costs would be too high to make this viable. Again any recommendations would be great.

If it is for rent...........why not make it of concrete ? Is extremely cheap, durable and you can add some paint to the cement (special cement btw) to get some color.
I always thought concrete was ugly, but not too long ago saw an apartment which had bathroom, kitchen, even couch and desk, floor in concrete. Was very beautiful to see, easy to clean and not expensive to build. Maybe something to think about ?

there is a place outside split that does what you ask. i can't remmeber the name but here are some directions (and maybe someone else can make them more specific)
1. drive along the magistrala from kastela and go straight past split 2. shortly after split you will pass a plumbers shop which i think is a big blue warehouse type building on your left hand side. the building is on the magistrala but you have to come off at the junction to get to it. The junction has a funny name like four unconnected letters rather than a word e.g. A.B.C.D. 3. turn left at that junction and work your way back towards the huge garden centre/ plant nursery. It involves driving down white roads on an industrial estate. 4. just after you pass the nursery you will see the joinery warehouse which is where you can get a custom made kitchen. As useless as these instructions seem, if you show them to someone from the area then they will either know where the plant nursery is or this shop - as far as I know they are the only ones in the whole area so most people know about at least one of these places.

We got a kitchen made at Max Moris www.max-moris.hr/They are on the other side of Split from Kastela in the Dubrovnic direction. This may be the one that Carol is referring to but I am not sure. HTH

Thank you All. Much appreciated. Will check out Max-Moris initially. From their website it looks like they can achieve what we're looking for.
Out of interest indiana. How long did it take them to put the kitchen together. Are we talking weeks or months? Do they visit to make the measurements of would we need to go to them with exact measurements and a proposed design?

Do they visit to make the measurements of would we need to go to them with exact measurements and a proposed design? We were in no rush so it took several weeks (we ordered it in January and told them to finish it for Easter) At the moment business is quite slow so you might get it quite quickly. They sent someone to measure everything (we had kitchen units and wardrobes done) and then we sat down with an english speaking designer who used our ideas plus their experience to design something that we were pleased with. The first time, its quite difficult to find without a map. Try www.europages.co.uk/MAXMORIS-DOO/bcm-EUR-HRV004692-00101-25-xx/map.html

max moris - yes that's the place! I saw lots of renovations where a new kitchen had been installed and the only non-standard looking ones were the max moris ones.
Ours came from aran - which was a nice enough kitchen but a horrible customer service experience
Have you looked in emezetta?

Being a speaker of Croatian, I would scour the classified ads for a "meštar" (an artisan) and I would ask him for references before agreeing to anything. This is certain to be the most cost-effective option, although the delivery and installation are likely to be a separate expense, and might not even be done by the same person.
Emmezetta and pretty much any other store won't charge for the delivery & install but the overall cost will definitely be higher.
