Can anyone guide me in direction of a good solicitor/lawyer-preferably english speaking- to assist in potentia purchase of a home in zadar area.? We will be using the company method. Does anyone know of a company/ organisation who can provide a furniture/ white goods package for a new unfurnished home? Has anyone got any contacts as to how to insure a new home and its contents in croatia? Can anyone recommend good publications/ web sites on process involved in home purchase in croatia? Has it been confirmed that ryan air is planning to start up fllighs to croatia next year or is this just a rumour. Found the web site interesting and informative

George,
I am also currently in the process of buying a house over there, but in Hvar so I cannot help you out with any contacts. I don't know how far you have looked into the company route, but it is does not appear to be as simple as the information that I have seen would indicate. The lawyer I spoke to about this advised strongly against it, because of the bureauceacy involved. Fortunately, I had another option as my mother is Croatian. I also need to look at furniture and insurance, but that is the next step....

Have a word with Peter Ellis from Croatia Property Services who posts on here. His address is on the members list.

Thanks Graham. I just realised, having not initially logged in myself, that unless you log in as a member, the members' button doesn't show. We are doing final tweaks of the website and starting to populate it. Temporarily it can be viewed at www.poslovni-imenik.com/cps until it is moved to the permanent site. There is quite a lot of background info available there.

Personally I wouldn't opt for the company route, you are leaving yourself open to a whole load of issues - do you really want to go through the bureaucracy and tax implications of running a company in Croatia? The key is to find a good lawyer and once done they will guide you through the process - the good ones know how to speed it all up. Another thing to consider is that you are very unlikely if you are a UK citizen to be refused so just be patient and remember, delay from the Croatian government means you don't have to pay your tax! Good luck Bruce
