yeah it is something like that. and by searching through youtube videos...i see that serbians are the same. It is totaly disrespectful...the referneces to peoples mothers, getting to the core of religion, sexual organs, dogs are thrown in their too. i mean its very intimidating. if a child of 10 years was to mouth off at me like this...id be scared shipless...it really effects me. but if someone were to attack me physically id go totaly nuts. Well, actually it's not only a Croatian thing anymore (who knows, like the tie, Marco Polo and a few other things) they may have invented and exported the skill, but when in the UK a month or so back I was quite shocked to hear how much people swear in normal coversation (especually young folks). My senses where more in tune with what people around me where saying in English since it's not common for me to hear it when out and about in Croatia. Of course it was also mixed in with Polish, Hindi, Africana and who knows what other languages. I felt like a fish out of water in my home town.

crojoe...the beeps there are F words. i actually use the F word frequently enough. But it cannot be compared to the way croatians swear. Sorry valiant2 (is there a valiant1?), but that's the only swear word I know and have used on occasion when driving, at MUP or similar. I'm not allowed out to often to any local or international watering hole (and I don't drink much due to side effects from the local brews). With kids I got to watch my P's & Q's. So, besides the TV blaring away in surround sound all those obscene words daily, the house is like a nunnery... none of this and none of that.

I was shocked how often they swear there at first, but Croatian swear words can be quite an art form. I find it most amusing that people use jebiga as a space filler.
So I was on my way to the store, Jebiga, and guess who I saw Jebiga...

LOL. I must admit to being somewhat taken aback myself when I realised just how often people told others to xxxx their mums and other choice expressions but it seems to be something nobody really takes any exception to and just seems to be bandied about by all and sundry with no real maliciousness behind it although it can be rather amusing when they take you for a tourist with no knowledge of the language and you return the compliment. Had a run in with a kid trying to push in front of my kids on a Pool table last summer and the look on his face was a pleasure to see when I told him to go and xxxx his mother as well. From my experience its when a Croatian is being nice and polite to you that you need to start worrying
